Airport Accommodation for Smokers
Posted on 09/08/2001 5:40:30 PM PDT by Max McGarrity
Richard Vacar, Director of Aviation at Houston Airport System, recognizes the value of accommodating ALL their customers, including smokers, but he needs our help.
He has spoken in favor of ending the oppressive smokefree policy at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston by allowing separate smokers' lounges, but the city council has refused to look into this fair solution to the anti-smokers' pathological fear of a tiny whiff of tobacco smoke. Write to Mr. Vacar, and let him know you support fairness for all at Richard.Vacar@cityofhouston.net. If you live in or near Houston, write, fax, call or e-mail your representatives and tell them you deserve and demand the respect and dignity all other taxpaying citizens expect.
The Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport is considering installing smoking lounges as well, according to the DFW airport authority. I'll post contact information here shortly.
Will Texas live up to its reputation as a shining light for independence and freedom, or will it follow Kookiefornia into the darkness of totalitarianism? You choose.

Thanks to SheLion, who heads up FORCES Maine, for this alert. She wrote to Mr. Vacar and received a very nice response stating his unequivocal position.
For those antis who have a problem with FORCES, who believe everything you're told by your paid professional 'masters,' neither SheLion nor any other FORCES chapter receives or has ever received any funding from any tobacco company. How many antis can say the same?

What? I just love going out in the parking garage at IAH when it's a 105 degrees. You mean that's not a smoking lounge?
To: Max McGarrity
I'm sure that everyone has noticed an increase in the number of air rage incidents since smoking was ban on flights and now in airports. Although I have no statistic evidence to show a correlation, I would be interested in see a study of this.

That's what the pilots are saying, too. I read something that said they want smoking BACK on their airplanes. Too much air rage.

Hi Max. Sorry, I wasn't online last night. As I state on my Forces Maine,
I have not, and never ever worked for Big Tobacco! Private citizens DO have the right to speak out. Private citizens DO have the right to object to all the lies the niconazi's have put out here about smoking and we DO have the right to counterattack their lies! If I worked for Big Tobacco, do you think I would still be living in a hundred year old farm house in northern Maine? I think not!The link to my Forces Maine is:ForcesMaine
