It was some ruthless bastard who said (and I paraphrase), "One person is a tragedy. A million people are a statistic."
My brother is dead and I went through and pressed "DEL" on ICQ, my email, my contact list, my mailing list and a dozen other places that held his name today.
I drank Jack Daniels and let it sink in that he is not the person I thanked effusively for his companionship last Saturday night only to get the call this afternoon that he was no longer here.
I miss him incredibly. He didn't deserve to die. He was 5 years younger. Just 43. I had the heart attack this year. Not him. He got the clean bill of health.
It's killing me. It hurts so bad. It's so painful. It's beyond anything I've ever known.
I want to damn the Gods on one hand and thank them on the other that he is in a better place, if there is one.
This much I know. I will never receive another Outlook notice. Or an ICQ "uh-oh". The phone won't ring. The car won't come up the drive. The mail won't contain something from him. I will not be asked advice about his hard drive or his operating system or whether stocks will go up or down. I no longer need to protect him from evil. Evil has won.
This is sadness. I'm stunned. I'm numbed. I don't give a damn who he voted for or what he believed.
I miss him.
My heartfelt condolences for your loss
Was this part of what happened yesterday?
I hope not!!!
Please accept my deepest sympathies. I cannot hope to truly console you in this time of your terrible personal loss.
But please know that your brother is with God now, and that you will one day be united with him in boundless peace and endless joy.
I will pray for him and for you and your family.
-Jack
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the death of your brother.
I cried tonight when Fox reported that more than 20,000 fatalities are expected from this dastardly attack.
I am a 'manly' type, I do not cry easily.
But for my trust in God and my Catholic Faith, I don't know how I could bear up under this tragedy without becoming homicidal.
Your message has helped put a 'face' on this great loss.
May your brother rest in peace and may he gaze upon the face of the Lord.
In Christ,
Sursum Corda
