I was talking with an office mate today and she indicated her preference for Pierre (aka Peter) Jennings as a newscaster. When I indicated that he'd made some biased comments as of late (immediately following the WTC attack) she responded with disbelief. So, being the generous soul that I am, I offered to provide examples. I've searched Free Republic, MRC and even jaunted over to ABC (requires a strong stomach...) and so far all I've come up with is the follwoing:
9/11/01
-Jennings couldn't understand why George Bush didn't address the nation sooner than he did, and even made snide comments like, "Well, some presidents are just better at it than others," and "Maybe it's wise that certain presidents just not try to address the people of the country."
-After Bush stated that freedom would be defended, Jennings remarked "Well, it wasn't defended today."
While the first is somewhat irrefutable, the second could be argued...from a Libs point of view anyway. Of the posts here at FR there are references to comments made by Pierre but no actual quotes. At ABC, I am unable to find any type of transcripts of broadcasts...either due to my own ignorance in using there site (I don't frequent their site) or due to the lack of any type of incriminating evidence.
Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks anyway.
To: DETAILER Peter Jennings on ABC just said that "Bush was ostensively in Florida for a meeting on education". As if the President knew about this and was hiding or something? Then later Jennings demands to know "where is the President?".
What a dork! Even in this situation Jennings, Rather and others are looking for ways to bash the President of The United States!

In a nutshell, Peter was trying to pin the blame for total irresponsibility in opening airspace to commercial flights on Bush's head.
One quote (not exact, but damned close) "should the president be embarrassed by this?" He kept asking direct, pointed questions knowing the response he would get from his guest. He admitted towards the end that he was very aware of the controversial nature of his term at the helm.
When a spokesperson from the Phoenix airport made a statement that in spite of an isolated incident at the airport, passengers should feel safe, he ripped into her (with all due respect, of course). She finally said [paraphrased] "Look this is new..we are all dealing with procedures we have had to implement immediately......"
The nature of his leading questions leaves no doubt that his main agenda is to discredit the president (even though he is on record as stating he sees no need to become a U.S. citizen)

BRINKLEY: "That was the most G-D pile of bunk I think I've ever heard..."
BROCAW: "It seems though that he captured the spirit of the convention; you have to hand it to him, he's a great politician."
BRINKLEY: "It (speech) was G-D worthless..."
PIERRE: (interrupting) "YET BETTER THAN THE DAMN TRIPE I'VE BEEN HEARING OUT..."(obviously the GOP and Dole...then he pauses and holds hand to earpiece then turns to Brinkley)...David, I've just been informed that we're still on the air, oops.
BRINKLEY (who's retiring) "I dohn't care, it was still bunk!"
And, when he introduced Clinton he said, Mrs. Clinton, or should I say Senator Clinton, but when he got into his little dust-up with Joe Biden over Congressional support he called him Joe rather than Senator or Mr. Biden. And another irritation with me is he always refers to President Bush as Mr. Bush.
