Spouse just called me on cell phone from outside her workplace next to Sears Tower in downtown Chicago. Sears Tower and several adjacent building have just been evacuated. Nothing on FNC or any of the local TV stations. Buzz in the crowd says something to do with airliner out of MKe.

I heard it here as well, call from a spouse. Haven't been able to confirm it though.(O'hare area)

Can this be true? Not a word on any TV or radio stations that I've scanned.

MKE = Milwaukee

I work across the river from the Sears Tower. There was a partial evacuation, but then everyone went back in -- what I heard was that it was a bomb threat called in, not an airliner. By the way, what does "MKe" stand for?
To: TheRightGuy
Nothing on Chicago radio.

Can this be true? Not a word on any TV or radio stations that I've scanned. It is. I got it firsthand from spouse on site. No local news coverage.
Redwing9, can you confirm?

By the way, what does "MKe" stand for? Every airport is assigned a three letter code. For instance LA is LAX, Birmingham is BHM, etc.

Like I said, nothing else reported here. I'll ask around the office, but I think it was a false alarm. Of course, it doesn't help to know that these guys had designs on the Sears Tower in the first place. it's very odd sitting here at work, because I'm ready for just about anything at this point.

FReepers are everywhere. Nothing happens in this country without a FReeper seeing it, huh? I love it!

I understand airport codes, I've never been to Mitchell Field though, so I didn't know that was "MKE". Thanks, though.

Those people who call in bomb threats are sick and should be punished. Yesterday in NYC someone called in a bomb threat to the Alliance Capital Building and they evacuated the building. They didn't report it in the papers because its becoming an everyday occurance.

I work a block away and just came in from lunch. Nothing looked unusual.

Everything I know is on this thread so far...
I have been looking all over the web for some confirmation and have found none. I will concur that my building, which is in the shadow of the Sears Tower, was in fact evacuated.
Dirk, sleeper-has-awakened... {shameless call for members} Why aren't you part of the Chicagoland Chapter? :)

Can't get my sister on the horn at work but I'll keep trying.
She'll know.

May I suggest keeping a bunji cord in your office?
