Brothers and sisters, this request is from AKAElena and was posted on our daily prayer thread dated September 20, 2001...

"I have asked for prayers for my brother, Dan, on more than one occasion. About two years ago he had a malignant melanoma removed from his face, along with some of his lymph glands and taste buds in his mouth. After chemo and radiation he seemed to be "better."

Last year he had surgery to remove a "tumor" from his brain, which actually was a benign accumulation of tissue from cancer in one lung and treatment with "nuclear bombardment" in another state. The lung cancer was controlled and virtually gone and it has just been over one month since I asked him why he was having aggressive chemo once again.

This brother never wishes to burden us with his trouble, and apparently, I was the only person among my brothers and my sister and I who directly asked this question ... and was told of the "new" mestastizing of his cancer to his spleen. Since the occasion was the death of our Mom, I did not think to tell the others, and assumed that they already knew.

About an hour and a half ago, my sister, Mary called to tell me that Dan is in ICU after having his spleen removed as well as a portion of his stomach. She was astounded that this was kept from the rest of us until after the fact and I told her that I would put this on FR and ask that those who are praying for so many and so much include prayers for my brother, as well.

Because of the danger of further spread, the removal of the spleen was out of the question, just a few weeks ago ... and getting Dan to share with the rest of us is obviously, not an option.

PLEASE, join my family's prayers for Dan and for his wife, Kerin ... and his four adult kids, Judy, Liz, Karen and Andrea!
