JAPAN MOVES QUICKLY: ROUNDS UP ILLEGAL ALIENS, STARTING WITH AFGHANS AND PAKISTANIS (Tokyo)

Japan-based Afghanis Raided

Law enforcers raided the homes of Afghani nationals Wednesday, taking 11 into custody in what was seen as a crackdown on terrorism, the Mainichi learned.

Of the 11 apprehended but not yet arrested, most are suspected of immigration law violations.

However, terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden is suspected to maintain Japanese links and it is possible those in police custody may have had something to do with the Saudi magnate.

"From now on we'll continue to look closely at anybody we believe may have links to terrorist organizations and we'll do what we can to arrest them," an investigation source said.

Police sources told the Mainichi the 11 taken into custody were all men. They had all entered Japan using fake passports from around the start of summer this year, or sneaked into the country by boat. It is believed the 11 were all working illegally. The 11 are all citizens of Afghanistan.

During a speech on Monday, U.S. President George Bush claimed to have a list of about 150 terrorists or their supporters based in 25 countries across the globe. Japan's government is also believed to have ordered law enforcement bodies to take a hard line against terrorist organizations in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States that killed thousands.

Wednesday's apprehensions are believed to stem from the government orders and Bush's comments. (Mainichi Shimbun, Oct. 3, 2001)

Quick moves beginning with the Ministry of Justice in Japan (their "INS").

Initial raids w/ high PR-level starting several days ago on women working without visas in Japanese nightclubs (cover for prostitution) visiting S.E. Asian nations, as a pretext to do what the Japanese Govt. really wants, and that is rapid racial profiling, targeting of South Asian and Middle Eastern men who had recently entered or stayed illegally Japan, detaining, questioning and ultimately expulsion (or held if connected to Al Quaida or other terrorist groups).

Breaking fast.

Begin sarcastic rant: Do what? Did they have U.N. permission? Did they go ask all other nations how they felt about the matter first. How dare them protect their nations sovereignity! This is an outrage! End sarcastic rant!

Sorry, 66. In the USA, we have to first get in touch with our feeeeeelings, and see if this is just and fair to the oppressed and discriminated, and bare our souls on Jerry Springer and Donohue and Oprah before we decide what to do, lest we commit a --gasp!- "hate crime!! (that'll give the boxcutters some time to re-group) /sarcasm

Knowing how petty thieves are treated in Japan, I would not want to be considered an enemy of the state right about now. One look at that prime minister with his wild-looking hair tells me that he isn't the kind to f#ck around at times like this.

Postwar Japan has a reputation for being somewhat pacifist & confrontation-adverse, but I've been told you don't wanna mess with their law enforcement system.

I'm sure they remember that it worked for us before P.C. controlled or national security policy.

He (Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi) sent the word out ASAP hard and fast that there is to be no more bullsh...t and screwing around with terrorists and those who have illegal crossed sovereign national borders, and that is why the Homusho(Ministry of Justice) and Nyukokukanrikyoko (INS) is taking off and they don't mean maybe. Of course, there is less PC in Japan so this can be done for self defense and protection. Japan is scared to death of another mass terrorist attack, such as sarin gas they experienced in 1994.

Agreed except the part about giving them time. March them to the nearest aircraft, and tell them to get on board.

If they don't, make them.

I'm with ya.

It's funny how fast all that humble bowing and scraping, that the Japanese are famous for, gives way to "Go ahead punk, make my day", when their asses are being threatened.

JAPAN!!!! Japan will kick your ass!!!! But if your an American terrorist supporter you get your picture taken with the President.

Sorry but since it has come out that American Islamists and Bush have a thing going I've lost faith. And now that Bush thinks a Palli terrorist state is just fine ... I've lost hope.

bushido mindset is still here. it is very peaceful on the surface level, not causing trouble to others, but when an cruel, unreasonable aggressor comes and throws the first blow, the counter ass whoopin' will begin in earnest.

You know Japan well.

****March them to the nearest aircraft, and tell them to get on board. ****

The day of the attack I said march them to the nearest beach and tell them to start swimming. Still think so.
