The French prime Minister Defense Minister says that no retaliation will take place for several weeks.
Our French correspondent M. Richard Morati writes that the chemical plant explosion which left 29 dead and 2000 injured is now under investigation as a terrorist act.

France is a member of NATO, it's part of the armed coalition too, French forces and 2 warships in the Indian Ocean will take part in the upcoming military action.
Not only that, but France has now been a victim of terror too, that chemical plant attack killed 29 people.
And anyway, Wolfowitz already gave us the hint a while back that we should "rethink" if we consider military action to be imminent.

So, it's really Fundamental Islam against EVERYone, right?
Nazis tried that approach once. Fundamentalist Islam will be scrubbed from the planet like Nazism was.

I said several days ago on here that we will wait until the new moon before any airstrikes begin, as we did in the gulf. This also aids our night fighters on the ground.

France is not a member of NATO.

Apology. France is a member of NATO. I thought they left the organization in the late '60's - early '70's. My bad.

No problems.

Fundamentalist Islam will be scrubbed from the planet like Nazism was.A review of bin Laden's interviews at abc.com and pbs.org makes it obvious that his ideas and objectives are absolutely identical to those of the Nazis: get "impure" influences out of the entire Middle East, institute a "pure Islamic" (e.g., Taliban) government throughout the region, and kill all the Jews.
Substitute "Aryan" every time he says "Islam" and you'd think you were listening to Hitler circa 1939.
Saddam, of course is bin Laden's Stalin.
It is fascinating (if also frightening) how such an enormous and elemental evil has repeatedly morphed itself through a revolving cast of characters including Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Saddam, bin Laden, Arafat, etc.
It almost makes one believe that there really is a Satanic force that is alive and well on the face of our planet.

History doesn't necessarily repeat itself, but it does rhyme.
As for Satan walking the earth, he's always been there. Its only in times like these that it becomes obvious.

"Apology. France is a member of NATO. I thought they left the organization in the late '60's - early '70's. My bad. "You are partially correct. The military Hqs for NATO used to be in France. They withdrew their direct military participation in NATO in a typical snit of nationalism. They continued their political participation in that part of NATO that operates in Brussels. The military headquarters was shifted to Mons, Belgium and they had a backchannel presence there at least until 1990.

With all due respects to the French, we are not consulting with them on military matters. NATO will take no active role in our upcoming assault.
The French Defense Minister may be correct, but, if so, it's not because he has any inside information.

They withdrew from the integrated command structure in '66 (I think), but never left NATO. They wanted 100% controll of their own nuclear weapons and did not want a mostly US dominated NATO command to have any controll over their forces. They have since then (1995, IIRC) returned to the integrated command and are thus "full" members.

We probably won't attack until after Ramadan. We wouldn't want to offend the people who want to kill us. That wouldn't be politically correct.

What do you get if you breed a Frenchman to the worlds biggest coward?
Another Frenchman, of course!

Wrong. We used to go by "the politically correct" president...he's no longer in office. Ramadan does not begin until next month. Bombs away.
As for the French DM, I have a much faith in him as I do in Bill Clinton being able to tell the truth.
France is not going to dictate when/where/how we strike. End of story.

History doesn't necessarily repeat itself, but it does rhyme. Nice! Is that original? May I steal it?
