Islam cannot not stand up, as it is practiced in Moslum countries, to open sources of communication. The Internet, CNN, and freedom are the greatest fear that this religon has. Good article. The militant Muslims don't view America as just another nation, like France of Britain, but as a representative of the Western civilization as a whole. They also view Israel as the outpost of the Western civilization in the Middle East. They are correct on both counts.

If America were to adopt the view that it is another nation, like France or Britain, -- a view it hasn't held since WWII, and if it communicated that change in its geopolitical mood to the militant Arabs by abandoning its support for Israel, then indeed, the Arab hatred would concentrate on the countries that surround Arabia: Israel, Turkey, the Balkans, Spain, India etc. Chances are, Europe would step to the plate at some point, but lacking national cohesion and historical experience to be at the forefront (last time they tried was during the Crusades), they won't accomplish much.

While christianity is based on the complexities of merciful openness, Islam is based on the simplicity of a war religion.

I think all they do is hate. Sunnis hate Shi'ites. Muslims hate Hindus. Arabs hate Persians. What do you expect from a culture that can't produce anything? They only have hate to import.

I think global government is not possible, period. If America withdraws from the international scene as an empire, the outcome won't be a multutude of peaceful small nations, but another empire: the European Community, or the Russians, or the Chinese. Power abhors vacuum, and the Middle East is for most part vacuum.

Our influence on Israel was mostly to stay Israel's hand when they alone were inclined to act militarily toward the Palestinians. If America abandons Israel now, they will annex the Palestine and the war on terrorism that we are engaged in will escalate to include PA, possibly Egypt, Syria and Jordan.
