The FBI said there would be a "100 percent" chance of further terror attacks in America if we retaliated--this struck me as odd, because obviously we would have a chance to prevent further attacks, right?
Unless the FBI knew the attacks had already been carried out, and the effects would manifest themselves in a delayed manner. Of course, I'm talking about Anthrax.
Did the FBI know about the Anthrax plot before now? They've arrested hundreds of suspected Bin Laden confederates, it's hard to imagine they didn't know about it, especially considering their directive to shut down all cropdusters.
So they found out about it, and found out the attacks were already carried out.
Not wanting to panic the nation, but wanting to prepare us for the shock, they came out and said there was a "100 percent" chance of further attacks. It makes sense to me.
LOL
I was wondering that myself. 100%=100%. that means there is 0% chance that we won't have retaliation on U.S. soil. I mean, they could have said 99.9% or even 99.999%, but NO, they had to go and say 100%!
If the FBI found a few jars of anthrax spores among these suspects, they might have learned from them that dozens more have been distributed to others still at large.
That would constitute a 100% chance.
He probably has dozens of canisters buried and hidden away all over America, he could even have moved them from where the original agents dropped them, so that if they're captured, the FBI couldn't retrieve it.
I don't know how hard it is to grow Anthrax, what type of growth medium you need, but it's probably not incredibly hard to get ahold of. Kids can buy agar from scientific supply catalogs for their science fair projects. One rogue biotech company, secretly operating for Osama, could produce tons of the stuff, very easily, while pretending to be doing something else.
A couple college graduates with biology degrees, working out of their basements, using makeshift equipment like micro-brewery fermentation vats, could grow large batches of the stuff.
But even with this current scare, I'm not worried about Anthrax, I'm worried about contagious diseases like Ebola. One agent, purposely infected with Ebola, could walk through an airport, and cough, hack, wheeze, and generally spray his infected snot all over--which would then be carried to all of the major cities of the world, by the unwitting passengers.
That's the real danger from the airports, it's not the hijackings, it's the rapid spread of biological material, across the world.
Now to really scare everyone: there is currently an outbreak of Ebola in Afghanistan, but you already knew that. Osama's agents are (almost definitely) trying to get ahold of someone with this disease, as we speak. If they can get a sample of the Ebola, and smuggle it somewhere safe (An Afghan cave? Iraq? A safe house in a Western country specifically designed for the purpose of biological warfare?), they can grow it, and they can spread it.
I only hope they screw up, infect themselves, and die miserable, wretched, painful deaths hidden away in their caves.
If not, we're all royally screwed. (Are you lurking, FBI? You'd better be paying attention you'd better already know this!)
Well, let me point this out: You are of no comfort to a paranoid person.
I have to disagree.
I would say a biological attack merits a nuclear response, if we can prove Saddam was behind this, we would be fully justified in nuking him off the face of this earth. But there's also a question as to whether going nuclear is the best course of action. I don't think we should automatically push the button, but now more than ever, it must be considered as a very real option.
There is too much at stake.
Remember this from the Naples, Florida paper? Container found in pipe bomb home being tested for anthrax
Container found in pipe bomb home being tested for anthrax

Associated Press
PALM BAY An investigation into a pipe bomb at a residence Tuesday also turned up a suspicious vial which may contain the deadly bacteria anthrax.
The container was found inside an otherwise empty refrigerator in the kitchen of a home where deputies had been called to disarm the bomb.
Palm Bay officers discovered the pipe bomb sitting in open view on the dining room table. It contained the destructive power of about 1/4 pound of dynamite.
While searching the home for other bombs, Sheriff's Cpl. J.R. Hansen opened the refrigerator and found the 5-inch-tall, 3-inch wide clear plastic jar. A medical-type label neatly hand lettered read, "Bacillus Anthracis."
Officers put on protective gear and removed the container. They sealed it and then placed it inside a larger metal container which was in turn heat-sealed in another layer of plastic.
The container was being stored at an undisclosed location until it can be tested to determine whether it actually contains anthrax.
We never did hear the results...
These countries simply cannot be allowed to have those weapons.
The goal of terrorism is not to murder but to dishevel. Compared to other weapons of destruction, anthrax, in my limited knowledge of the subject, appears to be a poor choice of weapon -- murdering our countrymen sporadically at certainly a great cost. However, the diabolical intelligence of the choice becomes ever more clear when considering the fact that it is not our countrymen these bastards have in their sights.
(That's what I was responding to... sorry.)
