AFGHAN CHILDREN'S FUND - Encourage Children to Help
FreeRepublic.com ^ | 10/11/01 | rpierce

Posted on 10/11/2001 7:14:57 PM PDT by rpierce

The President of the United States tonight asked for all American children to help the Afghan children in the coming winter months by sending $1 to the White House. The money will be administered by the Red Cross.

Let's keep this request of President Bush in the forefront of our thoughts and efforts. We can help our children participate in this worthy humanitarian effort and at the same time accomplish the political goal of showing overwhelming support of our President's call for help. Let's help show the world that the numbers that show an incredibly high percentage of American's that support the President are, in fact, real (and might even be understated a bit ;)

I urge everyone to instruct, encourage and facilitate their children and/or children around their lives to respond to the President's request. (As an example, tonight I printed out labels with the White House's address on it and sent them, along with envelopes and stamps to my son's Cub Scout meeting.) If there are other ideas and resources you can think of, please post them.

God bless our great President and God bless America.

The Address is:
Afghan Children's Fund
The White House
1600 Pennslvania Ave. NW
Washington, DC 20500

P.S. For those freepers who just can't help being negatively sarcastic, I urge you to take it to another thread and perhaps revisit the definition of sarcasm:
sarcasm \Sar"casm\, n. [F. sarcasme, L. sarcasmus, Gr. sarkasmo`s, from sarka`zein to tear flesh like dogs, to bite the lips in rage, to speak bitterly, to sneer, fr. sa`rx, sa`rkos, flesh.] A keen, reproachful expression; a satirical remark uttered with some degree of scorn or contempt; a taunt; a gibe; a cutting jest.

Just another way to rip off little kids, just like the March of Dimes gives money to abortion clinics.

Sorry can't go along with this.

Now if it was a buck for a bullet might actually go along with it.

Here is a pdf file of White House labels that I used for the Cub Scouts. It might be of use to some:

Thank you, It is a great way to teach our children more about the freedom we are fighting for. I will send a few dollars to cover some of our children who can't.

I think this was a brilliant move on Dubya's part, to teach children in this country that they are not powerless and can do something to help us win the War on Terror.

Do you have a reference that shows how sending money to the White House is a rip-off?

I must disagree, both with your analogy and logic. (But it was well stated ;)
I know we've all paid way too much in taxes and that there will be undue overhead in the actual administration of this (or most other types of) relief effort.

My enthusiasm for this effort in particular is in the knowledge (as I described above) that we could easily and inexpensively effect some very public and private results that are not otherwise always feasible. Seize the opportunity I say!

The Red Cross is going to administer the funds. The Red Cross does not use the money for anything but its intended purpose, in this case, food for starving children.

Red cross you mean libby dole's old organization.

Get it through head bush has come up with a beuatiful scam.

Take money from little kids to feed your enemies and you will feel better about it.

We are idiots, we are in war for civilization and you want to help the enemy.

Call me a cynic, but there hasn't been a real war for civilization since Vald the Impaler.

Kudos to the White House staff for empowering America's children to help others in need! This is the benefit of having a REAL FIRST-CLASS LADY next to OUR President. How come in 10 years, Kapitale Hillary was never able to think of this one! Why? Because Laura is the first, First-lady in 10 years with a REAL training CHILDREN's development.

Hillary THINKS she knows health care

Laura actually has a DEGREE in EDUCATION.

Who would you rather be in the White House?

Thanks to the First Lady (who understands AMERICAN kids!). God Bless You!

Call me a cynic...

Okay. You're a cynic. ;)

  2. A person whose outlook is scornfully and often habitually negative.

"Now if it was a buck for a bullet might actually go along with it."

Works for me. But sending mail to the Whitehouse addressed as "a Buck for a Bullet" might not resonate so well in the eyes of the USSS. Might name the fund "A Buck to Chuck bin Laden Fund."

The Address is:

A Buck to Chuck bin Laden Fund
The White House
1600 Pennslvania Ave. NW
Washington, DC 20500
Even the big kids can send (and send more than a buck) to this fund.

He seems to be coming up with many of those lately, don't you think? I particularly enjoy watching he and Secretary Rumsfeld handle the press and put them in their proper place.

May I suggest this is as big a scam as Clinton telling kids to have baked good sales for the National debt?

Parents have your children send a dollar to the Boy Scouts of America. There you know the money will not buy bullets to shoot our young men with!

I will have my children to participate for it is the humanitarian thing to do and because it is the time to stand behind our president. But I am also interested in participating in some effort for the families of our military people. It is known that their pay is not much and the holidays are coming. Is there any effort being carried out in here to extend a blessing to their children and spouses?

My my. Methinks you should do just that.

I submit that we should take this for exactly what it is (and what the President presented it as): an outlet and expression of compassion and charity that our children can enjoin and experience.

I like the idea, but Jim I am still paying off my Ammo bill from Viet Nam.

But yeah I can afford 1 dollar for a .50 cal API round for a sniper.

Done by Bush to pre-empt Hillary Clinton and Sheila Jackson's victim's children's movement - brilliant
