[history]
Every morning the Air Force technician puts on her uniform, she's painfully reminded of how desperately she wants to get out of the military.
It's not easy being a conscientious objector when 90 percent of your countrymen support military attacks, your comrades in uniform are bonding tighter than a family, and there is no one nearby to share your fears. In retrospect, the 22-year-old airwoman, first class, from Tennessee questions why she joined the military two years ago.

This just sickened me. It looks like the whiney libs who've been invading our military over the last eight years are now scared ****less that they might actually be asked to defend their country. When we invade Afghanistan, I suggest sending these cowards in first.

OK - bear with me - I'm dumb.
Can one really apply for CO status if one volunteers???

"Every morning the Air Force technician puts on her uniform, she's painfully reminded of how desperately she wants to get out of the military."
Then the Air Force should enable her. She should be given a General Court Martial, a dishonorable discharge and at least five years at hard labor.

"You know how they talk about a 'poverty draft,' about recruiting people who were uneducated and poor, well . . ."So she admits she's an imbecile?

I say let her sit in the brig until her tour of duty is over. Then give her the dishonorable discharge. Just let her sit in the brig.
If you granted her dispensation there'd be more to follow.
Nobody forced this idiot to join. Even if she wanted to join, there are jobs for COs that fulfill a need and allow for them not to enter into combat. She just screwed the pooch. That's not the service's problem.

NO S#!T !!!

A "bad career move" is infinitely different than being a conscientious objector. Why would a Quaker even consider going into the military?
They should say goodbye to all the benefits they were hoping to earn the easy way.

Hey, I've got a solution. Put all these folks in special units trained and tasked soley to duties that save, rather than end, lives. They can feel good about clearing Afghani mine fields and defusing unexploded bombs, right?

If they let this idiot out, someone else will have to fill her place and I find that objectionable. She should be sent to the most forward base possible, made to do her job and be placed in the brig every night until her enlistment is up, and then be given a dishonorable discharge.

In retrospect, the 22-year-old airwoman, first class, from Tennessee questions why she joined the military two years ago. I think we're all questioning why she joined the military two years ago if she DIDN'T KNOW IT MIGHT INVOLVE A MILITARY ACTION!!!!

If she's sincerely a CO and not just a spineless tramp, she should already have begun to refuse to carry out the mission she objects to. She should then have the integrity to accept the consequences of her actions and face a court martial.
After that, I'm with Chief--DD and five. I have heard this whine before--"I didn't think I'd really have to fight." I don't buy that sh*t. This airhead knew exactly what the military does.
She just broke one nail too many and got tired of the drill. T.S.

You can't do that any more. Four decades ago the army woulf send you to barbed wire village. It was considered bad time and you had to make it up when you got out. Today that is considered insensitive.
