SUPPORT RUMSFELD: Idiot Reporters Should Be Identified (Call The Pentagon Public Affairs Office Now)
RaoulGram | Doctor Raoul

Posted on 10/26/2001 8:33:38 AM PDT by Doctor Raoul

Tired of idiot reporters insisting on details that compromise operational security and endangering our military people?

Tired of left wing reporters that grill our Pentagon officials yet give unrestricted publicity to Taliban claims?

Tired of idiot reporters that ask just plain old stupid questions?

Then call the public contact line of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs at (703) 697-5737 and tell them!

Here's what I passed on:

1. Please tell the Secretary of Defense to keep on chiding reporters when they ask stupid questions or questions that place our people at risk.

2. As these briefings are broadcast live and the public is an avid audience, please make it manditory for each reporter to clearly announce themselves and their organization before they are allowed to proceed with their question. After all, the public has a right to know.

For those that would prefer to write a letter:

Victoria Clarke
Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs
OASD(PA)/PIA 1400 Defense Pentagon, Room 3A750
Washington DC 20301-1400

What an EXCELLENT idea!!! I like the idea of IDENTIFYING them! After all, they have no problem asking for all sorts of information, so they should be PROUD to have their names in the public domain!!

If we can get a few hundrd phone calls to OSD(PA) today and Monday, it clearly demonstrates a public interest in knowing WHO's asking the questions. So how can the media refuse to provide what the public wants to know?

PS: By the time I was done calling, there was definitely a smile in the voice of the person that took my message, especially when I stated that I liked it when the Secretary too offense at stupid questions and that he should continue to do so.

The only reason they continue to ask questions that may or may not compromise national security...is that there are a number of "sources" who continue to provide them with information...

That doesn't excuse the ones like "What time does the ground war start?" that we heard over and over during Desert Storm and was so obviously "innapropriate" that they shouldn't have been asked.

Your question as to miss/error rate is a good one and might put the collateral damage in perspective.

Besides identifying them, someone should put together a video clip showing them asking their stupid questions as a deterrent to others asking stupid questions....

I probably forgot some names.

All we'd need is for Rush to give out the phone number and the first words at the next briefing TODAY would be, "Wolf Blitzer, CNN,....what I'd like to ask is....."

Brent Bozel and the Media Research Center could probably do a great job on that. The "Media Check" link on Drudge's homepage takes you to their website. Call the MRC and suggest it.

Thanks.....

What a great idea, DR !! And you make it so easy by providing us with the phone number.

I have a lot of free time of late... so I just got off the phone with a most pleasant lady who was much appreciative of the positive phone call. I asked her if she could pass along the suggestion that these nitwits identify themselves so I can complain to their employers when they ask idiotic questions. She got a good laugh out of that. BTW, I was on hold for a few minutes waiting for my turn to talk with her. Looks like maybe some lurkers are on their phones :-)

Hi Doc! Miss Marple flagged me to your thread.

Think about it, if there weren't stupid journalist asking stupid questions, then where would we get our laughs?

Rumsfeld is much better than Ed McMahon.

I guess you missed the CNN reporter asking why they couldn't send media people instead of DOD photographers with Special Forces on missions! The inference was that the DOD photos weren't believable, and only CNN could do this. It was arrogant, insulting, and just plain stupid.

ALso, Secretary Rumsfeld's time is wasted when they ask the same question 6 ways from Sunday and take up time that INTELLIGENT questions could be asked.

I made the call and talked to a very nice lady. I suggested, in so many words, what Doctor Raoul suggested and also went a step further to suggest they "escort these morons out of the precedings when they badger the Secretary." She agreed and said it was ridiculous and she would pass it on.

LOL...I guess I missed those gems...

You must have been deaf.

...the simple fact of the matter is...they can ask all they want...no one has to give such asinine questions any respect...

Rumsfeld does exactly that and it's fun to watch.

So what is the point of your endeavor again????

1. Support Rumsfeld and reinforce his own sense of right and wrong as he enters the world of media idiots.

2. Identify the left wing wackos that hold press passes so we can put their "analysis" in perspective. Reporters are supposed to report and we decide, those that decide what we need to know and decide to "teach" us with their reports are a danger to a free society. The press gets priviledges the John Q. Public doesn't, like access and the ability to protect sources. In exchange, they're supposed to be a watchdog, not an appendage of the DNC.

To have reporters introduce themselves before asking a question? I'm missing the benefit of that.

One could only imagine how Rumsfeld would answer and how big a laugh you'd draw.....
