I think that most of the hits to the DU come from the FR.
Some say that they're the mirror of us, just on the other side. That's a load of crap. They're a FR wannabe with no power and no influence at all. Think any of the major media orgs, high power politicos or heavy hitters lurk there as they do here? Not in their wildest dreams. They suck and suck hard.
If FR had ever locked it's lips on to some pathetic political party's ass as they do, we would have been a distant memory in cyberspace.
Mattafact, I learned all I need to learn about their pathetic endeavors right here on FR. I have not been there once (I won't do it) as I think they deserve to be ignored.

VERY well done! But I think you've only captured the "mildest" comments by typical DU posters. They are usually more obscene, violent, hate-filled, and irrational. You did give some good examples of the "thought processes" over there. Simply call names, rant hysterically, and when someone has even the mildest disagreement, BAN them post haste, and accuse them of being a "closet FReeper". I was particularly interested in the thread about whether Gore should run again in '04. One guy (with HUNDREDS of posts) said he wouldn't support Gore because it would doom the democrats was all but beaten to a pulp by the other posters. Real "tolerant" bunch over there.
