Report from Chappaqua: Not ONE American flag flies at the Clinton residence
self

Dear Freepers, it's been a while since I last reported to you on the comings and goings of our fair town's two most infamous residents. And that was by choice..because after 9/ll, security is definitely an issue, both for the Clintons, and for the rest of the neighborhood ( which includes your faithful correspondent.) Be assured, however,

that if a bunch of turbaned and bearded men get off the Metro North train at Chappaqua, the town is prepared..

Chappaqua, like most American cities and towns since 9/ll, is festooned with American flags, from the storefronts in our little downtown, to what seems like every other car. Most homes display large flags on the porches, indeed, nearly every house on my street proudly displays the colors, and many a mailbox also proudly sports a flag as well.

Several residents have creatively painted portions of their white picket fences to resemble the Stars and Stripes, which is an especially pretty image as you drive past.

However, one house that does NOT, repeat NOT, display the colors is that which is occupied, albeit very occasionally by the current junior Senator from NY, and her part-time consort, the former President of the United States. Indeed, it seems very strange that while this country is at war, while the brave men and women of the armed forced are in harm's way, risking their lives to defend our liberties, their former commander-in-chief does not see fit to recognize their service, and honor our nation.

Well, possibly it's because it's really hard for them to think of Chappaqua as home; it's just a convenient address to use when running for office. And when they're driving up to the house, it's hard to distract one's thinking from all those speaking appearances for big bucks, all those book deals, and all those terribly important pieces of legislation that you have to introduce; not to mention the heavy weight of the responsibilty of trying to save the world, if not the Democratic party. Why would you possibly notice that there's no flag outside your house? Or maybe because it's at the end of a dead-end street, you figure that no one will notice. Well, you fly the flag because you love your country, not to make a "photo-op."

You'd think that one of the Clintons would have thought to bring back a few flags that had flown over the White House, or the Capitol, maybe donated one to the town, and then used some of the millions they've recently made to put a flagpole in their front yard, and proudly display Old Glory. And if you didn't want to spend the big bucks for the flag pole, well, there's the high privacy fence which surrounds the property, effectively isolating it from the rest of the neighborhood, like a stockade. A very "Berchesgartenish" effect. Why, you could easily hang a flag from the fence, heck, why not invite the "children" from the Chappaqua schools to paint one on the fence?

Well, millions for the homes in Chappaqua and D.C., millions to furnish them, but a flagpole...nah.....And you'd think that somebody on those combined "brilliant" staffs would have noticed the absence of the colors.

Well, the Clintons come and the Clintons go, very occasionally, and hardly ever together it seems. The locals have become rather blase about it, we can tell when one of them is in residence, because the town closes off the street.

Hillary is hardly ever, if ever, in town per se, and Bill has become partial to the local Dunkin Donuts. Guess you can't get the really gooey kind at Starbucks.

So, while I find it remarkable, and somewhat remiss, that the Clintons can't be "bothered" with the Stars and Stripes, in a way, the absence of our flag is a fitting, and in my opinion, alltogether appropriate commentary on their values.

Note: I really want to thank all of you who wrote me the last few months, wondering what happened to the "Report from Chappaqua"..and almost demanding the next installment. I appreciate the kind words. Truth be told, I was just getting tired of chronicalling the Clintons, and they have been in town so very little that it's not worth commenting on.

Bump for my buddy, ken. What a fitting -- and wholly predictable -- display (or lack thereof) by your dear neighbors. Cheers.

Thanks SO much for posting this.

Here in fair Gotham, the leftest place in North America outside SF's Castro, damn near every *building* from filthy walkup tenements to the toniest Park Avenue digs, flies at least one flag...usually two or more.

The commercial trucks and taxis sport flags, as do many private cars.

To me, native that I am, the sight of large flag decals on subway trains makes my eyes glisten. There is NOTHING more New York, and less 21st-century "American", than riding underground in a metal box with hundreds of strangers. The flags look great.

Maybe, like the holy water reportedly boiling off when the Clintons enter a cathedral, a flag simply cannot stay aloft chez Senator Shrew.

Why oh why does this not surprise me. I guess they have their old Russian flags in the basement of their home where they can worship the Stalinist teachings they both learned while in the Old Soviet Union during the Vietnam War.

Why is it that these people are still walking the streets free as a bird, and not falling under the great hammer of the Department of Justice for Treason?

Oh wait I know why... I have no doubt that he has lots of keys to a lot of closets where a lot of skeletons are hidden.

If you want to add to your annoyance, I was watching NBC Nightly News tonight and there was a promo for tomorrow's MTP. If I heard correctly, Timmy is going to have Hilliary on to tell him what NY needs.

And maybe Tim Russert will ask how Hilliary can know what NY needs when she spends so bloody little time here. But I won't hold my breath. And you know Timmy won't ask about the flag, either.

You can bet that after she hears of this (and they DO monitor your reports, Ken) the "Witch of Chappaqua" is going to send out a memo to her staff saying that unless there is a Stars and Stripes hanging from her doorpost, and pronto, there is going to be HELL TO PAY! (Thank you, BKO!) Hitlery has no love for this country, only her G**D*** poll numbers. And I hope she falls to the single digits and stays there. (And next time you see her, you can tell her to go kiss Suha for me!) fsf
