What you seem to be missing is, this becomes legal precedent now, and a hetero couple in a similar situation, could easily create the same problem for a donor.

The simple moral truth is unless you are prepared to insure the child you bring into this world is cared for no matter what happens, don't engage in conduct or matters that produces a child. I don't care what the father intended. He knowingly and willingly sired a kid into this world. Do you think the state should be responsible for his being so generous then? The issue is a kid of which either the biological or adopted parent must be held responsible. His donorship was not secret and he did this to further the womens cause. I do not support such cause as that. The man is just as responsible as if he had slept with the mother in this case.
