My apologies to those Freepers who have written masterpieces that just got missed by me and a few scouts that are ever watchful for the essay that is special and expressed well.

Congrats to the winners, for the great writing of the winners (actually, it is we simple Freepers who are the winners when these very talented writers share their essays with us!); but, mercy, a fella has to be carefully with replies 'cause something might come back to byte! [If I'd known that screed was gonna be cited, I'd have taken more care and tried to make it more intelligible. HELP!]

Good job as always, Jayne.

Congratulations to Victoria and the other winners! Your outstanding writing brings credit to FreeRepublic.

Our Founding Fathers knew that life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are unalienable rights given to us by our Creator. They risked their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to secure the blessings of Liberty for themselves and their posterity - in other words, for us. The freedoms they struggled to secure are still worth fighting and dying for. In an age when it is often asserted that everything is relative, the events of September 11th prove that relativism is false.

Wonderful post, Victoria! Congratulations!

Victoria...Very heartwarming & inspirational, and well written.

And your satirical piece was also very good, P.J.
(I had to compliment him, I hear comics are so sensitive! *L*)
