Had he escaped by now some newsie would have a tape of him calling for His holy warriors to attack anew!
His silence is deafening, Osama is still on the run and still in Afghanistan.
Had he escaped he'd be calling on the islamic people of world to join him in perhaps a greater jihad on america.
So where is Osama? with his buddy Mullah Omar, north of Kandahar.
Tora Bora, was a major Al Queda redoubt to be sure, but where ever Mullah Omar is you will find Osama, the Mullah Omar is perhaps the only one left in Afghanistan that might have the power to protect Osama from the NA, the EA, the WA, or the USA.
Osama knows that despite the change of Power in Afghanistan, Mullah Omar still wields some degree of power that can protect him.
The Afghans are NOT trying to find Mullah Omar as hard as say the Marines are, and they have good reasons not to.
They don't want to provoke a splintering of their interim government, capturing Mullah Omar might do that, turning him over to us will do that, and that is why their lackluster efforts so far have not found Mullah Omar or Osama bin Ladin.
They would sooner look the other way while these two move around the country from hiding place to hiding place, then risk the ire of their own people and renewed civil war.

I think he's long gone. I think he left a long time ago. Maybe he's in Saudi Arabia. Maybe in Pakistan. Maybe in Afghanistan. What is going on on the ground is politics. When it comes to OBL himself it is personal. The Pusthuns won't turn him in, culturally to them that is abhorrant. That is why they never turned him in. No sense in turning him in now that all the bombing has ended.

The incentive comes when they realize that we're not leaving until we get them. Eventually, they will want us to leave (but they'll want our money to stay) and the only way that will happen is if we catch those guys.

There is a 5 million dollar price tag on Omar marked up from $39.95 for that special someone.

I have already said this on another thread, but I think there is a 40% chance that Osama is dead, probably killed outside Kandahar on Nov. 26, and thus probably blown to pieces and not identifiable.
I would say there is also a 25% chance that he is holed up in caves in Tora Bora mtns;
another 25% that he has reached some tribal area just inside Pakistan and is holed up there in deep hiding;
Yemen 5%;Iran 4% (though without the govt there knowing he is in the country)...Rest of world, 1%.
Just maybe, Osama is with Allah and has been now for 3 weeks or so.

He could already be dead. If one of his sons killed him, as he requested, when the Americans got close - they would do anything to conceal his body so we could never find him and never be sure. Blow up the cave with his body in it??

If he's dead from an air strike, those who could report on the death are dead too.
To: usmcobra
RUSH thinks he's en route to (actually, probably *on*) a warship in the area ...
Why would we (US) want it known he was captured? So his 'sleeper cells' can rise up?
Better some 'quiet time' than this news break and ??? happen ...

Call him what you want, but he's not stupid. He is stupid to think that the US would fold like a deck of cards and flee the middle east.
His silence is telling. If he was alive he'd at least try to send a communique to his followers, "Stand strong, kill the infidels, .." ad nausem. He isn't. Why not? Probably because he's alread dead.

Could it be that the voice the troops heard on the radio which sounded like a tape recording they had of bin Laden was a tape recording?....
To: rugggud
Call him what you want, but he's not stupid. After viewing that tape, I do now know he is stupid, very stupid. To allow being taped with such an incriminating discussion proving his guilt, and then left it behind?. He originally denied having anything to do with the WTC. No, smart he is not, it all showed up in that tape.

Both Mullah Omar and Bin Ladin suffer from the same disease,
runningoffatmouthitis,
They have to talk the talk, so that others walk the walk.
Neither can drum up support with silence.
It would be more important that Osama "Gallant Martyrdom" be reported to the Islamic world then for his body never to be found.
And He would lose considerable prestige by running while his men fought to the death.
He may be the mother of all terrorists but he is no fool, he knows just how to play to the Islamic world, and how to sway opinion to him.
Also it fits his warped view of the world, he sees himself as a modern day Saladam, the great defender of his faith.
and to maintain that view amoung Muslims, he will talk, brag, and spew his views....
as soon as he can get a camera and a mike in his face.

Now this is a difficult choice:
1) I can report the location of Osama and collect $25 million dollars.
2) I can report the location of Osama to a reporter.
Dang, this is a difficult choice!!!!!
Obviously, the reporters are obtaining false information.
