The removal of the Jews from the Arab world has been all but ignored, says Tom Gross It is not surprising, given the sheer scale of the Holocaust and its sadism, that it has dominated contemporary discourse among Jews and others. But, while the extermination of European Jews has rightfully (though belatedly) generated a great deal of study and research, the removal of the Jews from the Arab world has been all but ignored. This ignorance extends to policy-makers at the highest level. Some journalists and politicians I have spoken to have expressed surprise when I even mentioned that Jews...

AN OPEN LETTER TO SARAH CARTER, MARIBYRNONG, AUSTRALIA. Councillor Carter, This letter to you and for Australia is about environmentalist memorial trees, free speech and democracy. In 1945 during World War 2 (WW2), my father served in the fight against fascism on the Indonesian island of Morotai. In 2012, I encouraged some Morotai locals to plant memorial trees to honor the memory of soldiers who fought for freedom. Memorial trees are a proud Australian tradition often forming Avenues Of Honour in the approaches to many of our country towns. In 2013 a landowner in Morotai planted over 100 memorial trees...

A young John F. Kennedy thought fascism was the right system for Germany, a new book that reviews the late president’s travel diaries from his trip to Germany pre-World War II divulges. The new revelations are found in “John F. Kennedy—Among the Germans. Travel diaries and letters 1937-1945,” a book recently released in Germany, according to the Daily Mail. According to the British tabloid’s account of the book’s contents, Kennedy kept a diary during a 1937 journey to Nazi Germany. During the trip, he concluded: “Fascism? The right thing for Nazi Germany.” … Kennedy also seemed to have been enamored...

MACY'S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE – 1945 Friends and family- This home movie is of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1945 in New York City. World War II had just ended several months earlier. The parade had been suspended the prior 3 years due to the need for rubber and helium in the war effort. The movie was filmed by my grandfather, William Whitman, Sr. on 16mm film, and the music is by my daughter, Anna Haas. I hope you enjoy... David

A week after Nagasaki, Tokyo had still not surrendered. A third weapon was already on its way and a dozen were to follow.LONDON — American military archives reveal that if the Japanese had not surrendered on August 15, 1945, they would have been hit by a third and potentially more powerful atomic bomb just a few days later and then, eventually, an additional barrage of up to 12 further nuclear attacks. Documents highlighted during commemorations to mark the 70th anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima on August 6, and Nagasaki on August 9, which forced the end of World War...

On the morning of Aug. 6, 1945, shortly after 8:00 a.m. local time, a lone American B-29 was conducting what seemed to be a reconnaissance flight at high altitude over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. At about 16 minutes after 8:00, the aircraft released an object over the centre of town. Attached to parachutes, the object floated down slowly enough to give the four-engine Boeing Superfortress time to turn and lumber out of the airspace. The atom bomb exploded at about 1,900 feet above the centre of Hiroshima. The devastation was cataclysmic. Immediate casualties, dead and injured, numbered approximately 115,000....

“Jada were a popular night club act at Club Lido in Panama City. Not surprisingly, her routine was entitled “Beauty and the Beast”. She is shown here performing for the sailors of the US Task Force 11, while they were on leave. The troops were on their way to New York City to participate in Navy Day celebrations, but made a stop before passing through the Panama Canal.”

Fifty years ago today, the life work of Alger Hiss came to fruition. Hiss, a US State Department official, served the United Nations as its acting Secretary General during its founding conference in the spring of 1945. On October 24, 1945 the United Nations Charter became effective as a majority of the countries that had signed it ratified their signatures. Several years later, Hiss went to a federal penitentiary for committing perjury when testifying that he was not a Soviet agent. His personal career was over, but his most important work, the United Nations, lived on. Globalists everywhere are today...

On April 9, 1945, 65 years ago today, just a few weeks before an allied offensive brought Germany to its knees and ended World War II in Europe, a young, mild-mannered Lutheran theologian was hanged by the Nazis in Flossenburg Concentration Camp. His crime ... conspiring to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a theological genius of the 20th century, is now emerging as a war hero, martyr and spy. "What is so amazing about the story of Bonhoeffer is that he puts a completely different spin for us as Americans on World War II," says Eric Metaxas, author of "Bonhoeffer:...

The "Trinity" test was the first test of a nuclear weapon, conducted by the United States on July 16, 1945 at 33.675° N 106.475° W, thirty miles (48 km) southeast of Socorro on what is now White Sands Missile Range, headquartered near Alamogordo, New Mexico. It was a test of an implosion-design plutonium bomb, the same type of weapon later dropped on Nagasaki, Japan. The detonation was equivalent to the explosion of around 20 kilotons of TNT, and is usually credited as the beginning of the Atomic Age.

This is a video of the surrender of Japan in WWII. I have never seen the video, only stills of the surrender. This is the first video I have seen of it and thought maybe FReepers would be interested in seeing it. It is what we used to call a News Reel, back in the day.

I recently watched a movie called “Into the Storm” which followed Sir Winston through the years before the war through the end of the war. Towards the end of the movie, Churchill gave a speech on the radio about the perils of Socialism that I found very interesting. Here is the text of the actual speech: My friends, I must tell you that a Socialist policy is abhorrent to the British ideas of freedom. Although it is now put forward in the main by people who have a good grounding in the Liberalism and Radicalism of the early part of...

Although historians have debated the issue for decades, Jon Stewart has no question about this controversial matter: former President Harry S. Truman is a war criminal for dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima in 1945.

The US economy lost more than half a million jobs in December for the second month running, new figures showed on Friday, making 2008 the worst year for job losses since 1945. The unemployment rate – which hit a low of 4.4 per cent prior to the start of the credit crisis – jumped to 7.2 per cent, its highest level in 16 years. Unemployment has now risen by a full percentage point since September, when the crisis intensified with the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the investment bank. There was a further rise in the number of discouraged workers no...

Although a lot of things have been talked about in this election and the change factor that seems to happen every 16 years or so I thought back to another pivital election. That Election was the one in England at the tail end of 1945 between Churchill and Clement Attlee. England was War weary and a General Election was called in May of 1945. Following is an excerpt for Wikipedia: The war set in motion profound social changes within Britain, and led to a popular desire for social reform. This mood was epitomised in the Beveridge Report. The report assumed...

Here are excerpts and my footnotes in parenthesis from "Stars and Stripes" newspaper for Monday April 23rd, 1945. This is the Mediterranean edition produced in Rome. RED ARMY IN BERLIN 5th Army Races Across Plains Towards Po Moscow April 23--The Red Army was fighting today in the streets of Berlin. Battling against fanatical resistance by suicide troops of Hitler's elite guard, the Russians smashed through the east and northeast suburbs of the German capital. They drove into the boulevards of Greater Berlin and headed for Unter den Linden at the heart of the city, less than four miles away............" "WITH...
