  • How Do You Handle Office Politics?

How Do You Handle Office Politics? Most people (fortunately) in my Office are Conservative Republicans. But there are 2-3 of 35 who are nice folk, but they are Liberal as the day is long. I have not time for them in discussion. And I like to talk politics. One of them, today, began discussions on how poorly GW has done and some kind of bologna on Palin. I cut him short (without going off on him) and I reminded him GW is a GREAT President and that Sarah was a most excellent choice. This dufus still tried to slink-in the...

In a very interesting City Journal article, Steven Malanga argues that "Yes, Rudy Guiliani Is a Conservative/And an electable one at that." Malanga makes a strong case for Rudy as a Reagan-style conservative. After recounting Giuliani's record as mayor of New York City, in which, as Malanga establishes firmly, Rudy supported free markets and individual responsibility, as exemplified vividly in his tax cuts , welfare reform success, "zero tolerance" crimefighting, and firm rejection of racial politics. As Malanga notes, Giuliani did this in what was one of the most leftist cities in the United States until he became mayor. There's no...

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist gave another indication he could be leaning towards a bid for president in 2008 by touring New Hampshire, home to the nation's first electoral primaries. Bloomberg News reports that Frist, Tennessee Republican, along with fellow GOP Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska and Democratic Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina – Sen. John Kerry's failed running mate last year – have visited New Hampshire already this year, even though the next presidential contest is years away. "For candidates in both parties, the wide-open nature of the 2008 race - with President George W. Bush ineligible to...
  • Postmortem and a Look Forward

I think it is time to look forward. Bush and his crew will take care of the "now". I have some facts and some questions. I don't want to quibble over details, but I ask you to consider some questions that need answers now and cannot reasonably waity until 2007 when it will be too late. 1. As it stands now the democrat core is about 180 electoral votes. The core Republican is about 230 electoral votes. That leaves 120+ up for grabs. That has been the case in the last two elections. I don't see how it will change...
