The physician credited with discovering Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) in American football players said that anyone who lets children play football could be held accountable for abuse. “Someday there will be a district attorney who will prosecute for child abuse [on the football field], and it will succeed,” said Dr. Bennet Omalu at a New York Press Club talk, Sports Illustrated reported. His remarks come shortly after a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that 110 out of 111 National Football League players had evidence of CTE when their brains were examined postmortem.

A Kootenai County deputy was attacked by a domestic abuser whom he was attempting to arrest. When things got ugly, the abuser’s victim grabbed the deputy’s baton and helped beat the suspect into custody.

Authorities are looking for fishermen who appeared in a viral video of a shark being dragged behind a boat at high speeds. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has launched an investigation after at least three men can be seen in the video, talking about how the shark is going to die as it helplessly flops around in the water behind their boat. Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert was released from prison on Monday after serving 13 months for lying to federal investigators about money used to hide sexual abuse charges. In May 2015, Hastert was charged with felony counts of illegal bank structuring and lying to the FBI.
