She was married before me to a foreigner and came to our marriage with a child, who I adopted after the ex waived parental rights for her waiving $3K in back child support. I have never met the man. He was abusive to her and there were restraining orders 7 years ago, now lapsed. She still lives in fear of him potentially kidnapping our son (threats had been made years ago) or coming back...
