Hi, welcome to my vanity thread. I am having a problem downloading .pdf files on Firefox. If I click on a .pdf link all I get is a blank window in response. I am currently using Adobe Acrobat reader as my .pdf viewer, but Firefox seems to be oblivious to its existence. I have checked Firefox addons, and there seem to be hundreds of .pdf related addons, but I don't know which if any I should choose. Any advice on how to get Firefox to download/display/print/save .pdfs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, you guys are the best.BTW: I have to...

I just started a small business and I put out a monthly newsletter. The first 4-pager (last month) I wrote in Word, converted to pdf and took the pen drive to Kinko's. They printed out 100 on glossy paper and it looked great (the bulk go out by email to my list, but I need about one hundred hard copy anyway). Now this would be fine, except Kinko's charged me 455 bucks for the 100 copies. They printed it on 11 x 17 paper and folded it (so pages 4 and 1 were on one side, and 2 and 3 were...

Trying to find out something about Reader Extensions for Designer 7. I can't figure out (from the Adobe web site) how to obtain this product/software or what it costs (or if it's a free add-on). For those who will ask... I need to make a PDF form where the data can be saved. My understanding is that this functionality came with the CS3 and later (Acrobat 8+) versions (in Acrobat, under Advanced > Extend Features), but I can't find anything correlating to that in Acrobat Pro 7 or Designer 7. Thanks in advance.

Note: The following text is a quote: New Attack Vectors for Adobe JBIG2 Vulnerability added March 10, 2009 at 04:52 pm US-CERT is aware of public reports of two new attack vectors for a vulnerability affecting Adobe Reader and Acrobat. This vulnerability is due to a buffer overflow condition that exists in the way Adobe Acrobat Reader handles JBIG2 Streams. When Adobe Reader is installed on a system, it adds an IFilter that allows applications such as the Windows Indexing Service to index PDF files. If the Windows Indexing Service processes a malicious PDF file stored on the system, the...

I despise Adobe software and the company. First the company and some of its officers were among the largest campaign contributors to Bill Clinton and the Democratic Party. The pdf format is among, if not the least efficient means of sharing and communicating information. Files are huge, slowing the internet and hogging servers. Once transmitted the files are in the least useful format for handling and analyzing data. And if storage is desired these files take up unnecessarily immense disc space. Governments always do the wrong things for the wrong reasons; it is not surprising that adobe has become a...
