More than 500 people are likely to be accepted under the Government’s Afghan Admission program, established in response to the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan after the Taliban returned to power there almost two years ago. Originally, places on the scheme were limited to 500; however, a spokesperson for the Department of Justice has said that “the number of places to be provided under the program is likely to exceed that number”.
