STUDIO CITY (CBSLA) — Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters has gone on the offensive, firing back at the GOP candidate looking to unseat her following his endorsement from former Trump adviser Michael Flynn. Flynn’s endorsement of Omar Navarro at the 43rd District candidate’s event Friday was his first time speaking publicly since pleading guilty last year to lying to the FBI about conversations with a Russian diplomat.

The head of a coalition of black pastors says Rep. Maxine Waters and the Congressional Black Caucus must end their “partisan hypocrisy” and denounce “leftist hate speech” such as that proclaimed by anti-Semite and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. In a press release Rev. William Owens, president of the Coalition of African American Pastors refers to Farrakhan’s statement in a recent speech: “White folks are going down. And Satan is going down. And Farrakhan, by God’s grace, has pulled the cover off of that Satanic Jew and I’m here to say your time is up, your world is through.”...

"This is not a national security crisis, this is a humanitarian crisis," Jackson Lee said, attempting to utilize emotional appeals. The Congresswoman blamed the surge in illegal immigration only on violence in the immigrants' home countries. She said, "We need to continue to use the word 'humanitarian.' These children have been forcibly misplaced."

Actor Danny Glover is leading a rally in San Francisco on Saturday to support bigger tax breaks for California’s film and television industry. Supporters of Assembly Bill 1839 are trying to pressure lawmakers to sweeten the current program, “which is capped at $100 million a year and 20 percent of production costs — smaller than rival incentive programs in Georgia, Louisiana and New York,” Variety magazine reported. The 10 a.m. rally will be held at San Francisco’s Fairmont Hotel. Also attending are Assembly members Marc Levine and Rob Bonta, San Francisco supervisors David Chiu and Mark Farrell, Teamsters VP Rome Aloise and IATSE Local 16 VP Eddie Raymond.
