In the world of gun innovation almost anything is possible. For instances, this Youtuber made a barrel out of a rebar. He constructed the barrel to fit a .22. Here’s the excerpt of his process: “The barrel is made from ~1″ rebar about 18 inches long that I got at the local scrap yard. First I center-drilled the end and went about 3″ in with a standard-length 5/16 drill bit. Then I deep-drilled it about 10” using a Dewalt branded installer bit from the local home center. I expected this bit to burn out pretty quickly through so much solid...

Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston told reporters he did not know whether Neal had surrendered the weapons. The shooter illegally manufactured guns he used Tuesday, officials said. Handguns police recovered were not registered to him, Johnston said. Neal "was not law enforcement friendly" and authorities a number of times had come to his house after complaints that shots were fired from the property, Johnston said.

The Trump administration plans to allow hunters to import trophies of elephants they killed in Zimbabwe and Zambia back to the United States, reversing a ban put in place by the Obama administration in 2014, a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service official confirmed to ABC News today. Even though elephants are listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act, a provision in the act allows the government to give permits to import these trophies if there is evidence that the hunting actually benefits conservation for that species. The official said they have new information from officials in Zimbabwe and Zambia...

Lily Eskelsen García: “Thoughts and prayers are not enough.” WASHINGTON - November 15, 2017 - NEA President Lily Eskelsen García issued the following statement in reaction to yesterday’s shooting in Northern California, which targeted students and educators at Rancho Tehama Elementary School:“We pray for the victims of this latest tragedy in Tehama County, California, and the schoolchildren and adults shot by another out-of-control man who could spray bullets through a classroom and down the street with a rapid-fire weapon. We’re grateful to the educators who heroically protected their students in this rural school, the heroes in a Texas church, and...

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said on Wednesday that senators are nearing a bipartisan deal on gun legislation following a number of high-profile mass shootings. Murphy's office pointed The Hill to comments made last week by Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas), who said that he would talk to Democrats about strengthening background checks – an initiative that gained some bipartisan momentum earlier this month after a gunman opened fire on a church in southern Texas, killing 26 people. It was revealed shortly after the attack that the gunman, 26-year-old Devin Kelley, was able to slip through the system and purchase...

“This week’s episode [of The Walking Dead] featured a Rick/Daryl motorcycle/jeep chase,” Paul Tassi writes at forbes.com writes. “It should have been one of the most badass action sequences the show has done to date, but instead it just felt stupidly goofy. As the two pursue the truck loaded with the heavy guns, one of the Saviors pops one out of its crate and starts opening fire on their vehicles . . . This is not a peashooter. This is a .50 caliber machine gun that is designed to shred vehicles, and those in them. The problem? The Walking Dead...

Despite California laws designed to keep firearms away from troubled people, this assailant still got his guns. The red flags were flying all over the place. Let’s review: crazy guy, history of wreaking violence on others, and multiple weapons at his disposal in a state with the toughest gun laws in the nation. It doesn’t quite add up. So what about that California law banning certain weapons from certain people who’ve had run-ins with authorities? It’s called APPS for short, or the Armed and Prohibited Persons System, and it’s designed to allow California law-enforcement officials to automatically track firearm owners...

In a single evening, and at the hand of a single man, shootings at Mandalay Bay in Los Vegas added more than 500 to the pool of Americans who have to be treated for gun injuries. The cost of these wounds cannot be calcuated. Beyond the financial expense, the societal and emotional expenses are difficult to imagine. But researchers have quantified one corner of the problem: hospital expenses. Gunshot wounds cost Americans $2.8 billion in hospital bills alone per year, according to a new analysis published in the journal Health Affairs, released coincidentally a day after the Las Vegas attack....

(U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, wants those aiming to pick up certain guns, ammo and accessories to wait seven business days.) A group of House Democrats is backing a measure to delay sales of semi-automatic firearms, suppressors, armor piercing ammo and large capacity magazines. Introduced by Texas Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee, H.R. 4268 would mandate that both licensed dealers and individuals wait seven days after buying targeted guns, ammunition and accessories before transferring the item. The Houston-area Congresswoman debuted the bill two days after the shooting at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas that claimed the...

The logic of gun control lies, at bottom, in substantially reducing the number of deadly weapons on the street — and confiscation is far and away the most effective approach.

A licensed gun owner in the uber-lefty city of Austin, Texas, used his Glock 43 to stop a sexual assault in progress while out on an early morning hike.

Well, if there’s one thing we can say about this Boston Globe op-ed, it’s honest. I don’t mean honest regarding facts or anything, but honest in detailing what gun control advocates really, really want: confiscation. Trouble is, it’s not clear the "something" Democrats typically demand would make a real dent in the nation’s epidemic of gun violence. Congress can ban assault weapons, but they account for just a tiny sliver of the country’s 33,000 annual firearm deaths. And tighter background checks will do nothing to cut down on the 310 million guns already in circulation. In other words, the proposals...

Let’s face it. These are trying times. The Assault on Reason, as Al Gore calls it, is a war in full bloom on all fronts. One that, sadly, seems to only get worse as the days go by. The more proof that emerges revealing the overwhelming majority of our country’s most powerful leaders are nothing but a bunch of corrupt criminals and traitors, the more their supporters will deny it. On one side, we have a population that relies on facts, truth, fair play, and common sense. On the other, well, who the hell knows what they rely on? Fox...

Many hunters have sharpen their skills with their rifle by zeroing in at various distances and quick scope tracking. But how many have faced a lion attack at up close and personal? Some facts that are unknowned as to the development of this hunt. One thing is for certain, when a lion comes charging at close distances, you better have your shotgun ready and game on. Looks like this hunter survived but have...

CORNING, Calif. - Witnesses tell a chilling account of two gunman who opened fire at Rancho Tehama Elementary School near Corning Tuesday morning. A school secretary ran out and yelled for the kids to get in the classrooms because someone was shooting at the school. Ferreira said he ran into a classroom with 14 students. He said the series of shots came through the classroom windows, hitting one student. Ferreria said a young...

The debate over gun control, which has heightened after mass shootings in Las Vegas and Texas, is playing out in San Carlos with the City Council considering a 45-day moratorium that would stop a new gun store from opening. The moratorium, if approved by council tonight (Nov. 13), would give City Manager Jeff Maltbie more time to research what regulations the city could impose on gun stores, according to a report to council from City Attorney Greg Rubens, Community Development Director Al Savay and Maltbie. About a dozen residents asked the council at its Oct. 23 meeting to impose a...

Has it occurred to anybody that when restrictive laws are imposed, they're likely to have the greatest impact on the people most willing to obey them? The past week saw yet another invocation by the usual suspects of the supposed need for tighter gun controls. This time, we had a special emphasis from lawmakers on such "innovations" as banning people convicted of domestic abuse from owning firearms—which is to say, restrictions that are already on the books and have been in place for years, but which haven't had the wished-for effect. Honestly, so many of gun-controllers' preferred laws have been...

Smugglers from the Sinaloa Cartel continue using air-powered cannons to launch drug bundles over the fence that marks the border between Arizona and Sonora. A cannon was recently seized by soldiers and Mexican federal agents in Agua Prieta, Sonora.
