L E B A N O N, Tenn. A 61-year-old man was shot to death by police while his wife was handcuffed in another room during a drug raid on the wrong house. Police admitted their mistake, saying faulty information from a drug informant contributed to the death of John Adams Wednesday night. They intended to raid the home next door. The two officers, 25-year-old Kyle Shedran and 24-year-old Greg Day, were placed on administrative leave with pay. “They need to get rid of those men, boys with toys,” said Adams’ 70-year-old widow, Loraine. John Adams was watching television when...

ORLANDO, Fla. — Authorities say a Florida firefighter who brought a handgun onto a flight out of Orlando will not be prosecuted. The unidentified woman told authorities she forgot she had a 380-caliber semi-automatic in her purse when she boarded a flight Thursday. The woman went through screening checkpoints at Orlando International Airport, but the gun was not detected. The woman told authorities about the incident when she landed at Newark Liberty Airport.

Spanish-language television network Univision plans to air a television special that it said reveals more violence than previously known, as well as the stories of how many more Operation Fast and Furious victims were killed, the network announced in a Friday release. “The consequences of the controversial ‘Fast and Furious’ undercover operation put in place by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in 2009 have been deadlier than what has been made public to date,” the network said. “The exclusive, in-depth investigation by Univision News’ award-winning Investigative Unit — Univision Investiga — has found that the...

In July and August I worked on a post for Big Government about the human aspect of Operation Fast & Furious, the government gun walking operation that put guns into the hands of already dangerous Mexican drug cartels. The Old Media largely ignores Fast & Furious, but when they do pay attention, they scarcely mention the victims. Not until I put an enormous amount of pressure on The New York Times did they start saying "Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry" instead of just "a border patrol agent." Tomorrow, September 30, Univision will be airing “Aqui y Ahora” (Here and Now)...

Just when the media thought Fast and Furious had fizzled out, it seems Univision has done a little of their own investigating and will air it all tomorrow night (Sunday) at 7PM eastern. And the word on the street is that it’s a bombshell report.

The Obama administration clearly hoped that the Department of Justice’s Inspector General report on Operation Fast and Furious would be the last word on the scandal. which has been tied to hundreds of deaths in Mexico and the murders of two American law-enforcement officials. However, a new report from Univision to be broadcast tomorrow, previewed here by ABC News, may put the issue back on the front pages. One source called Univision’s findings the “holy grail” that Congressional investigators have been seeking:

Ever wonder what it looks like when you fire a gun underwater? Firearm enthusiast Andrew Tuohy of VuurwapenBlog recently decided to find out. Taking his .40 Glock 22 into his swimming pool, he captured some high speed videos of himself firing a round using an ordinary Pentax Optio WG-2 waterproof compact camera (which has a 120fps movie recording mode). The photograph above is a still taken from one of the videos.

CHICAGO — The city of Chicago is asking residents with ideas on how to get illegal guns off the streets to share their thoughts — in 140 characters or fewer on Twitter. The initiative is part of Chicago Ideas Week, an annual forum for innovators, artists, scientists and others to share ideas and inspire action.

BENGHAZI, Libya (AP) — Hundreds of Libyans converged Saturday on a main square in Benghazi and another in Tripoli in response to a call from the military to hand over their weapons, some driving in with armored personnel carriers, tanks, vehicles with mounted anti-aircraft guns and hundreds of rocket launchers. The call by the Libyan chiefs of staff was promoted on a private TV station in August. But it may have gained traction in the wake of the attack against the U.S. consulate in Benghazi in which the American ambassador and three staffers were killed. The incident was followed by...

Who are the human faces of the U.S. government's botched "Fast and Furious" gun-walking operation? Often lost amid the rancor in Washington are the stories of dozens of people killed by guns that flowed south as part of the undercover operation, and later slipped out of view from U.S. officials. Univision's Investigative Unit (Univision Investiga) has identified massacres committed using guns from the ATF operation, including the killing of 16 young people attending a party in a residential area of Ciudad Juárez in January of 2010.

This year’s election is going to define the future of our freedom, perhaps more than any other in our history. For gun owners, there are a number of areas crucial to the survival of our Second Amendment rights. That’s why I took the time to visit with Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential nominee, to find out precisely where he stands on the issues of concern to gun owners. Chris W. Cox: First, let me start with the most basic question of all. In the 2008 case District of Columbia v. Heller, and in the 2010 case McDonald v. City of...

A professor at the United States Military Academy (generally referred to simply as West Point) has recently published an article about "far right violence," naming "anti-federalists" as one of the "three trends of far right violence in the United States." Professor Perliger explains that the "anti-federalist trend" to which he refers is "usually identified in the literature as the 'militia' or 'patriot' movement." In other words, he is teaching our military cadets that anti-federalists--the ideological descendants of George Mason, Patrick Henry and other "extremists"--along with militias (that which the Bill of Rights identifies as being "necessary to the security of...

This started out as a comment but morphed into a post. Thirdpower points out Elliot Fineman of National Gun Victims Action Council (NCVAC)’s apparent descent into lunacy. I don’t think he “descended” at all. I think he started out there and hasn’t stopped digging. I think that Elliot is the reason NGVAC started and he’s the reason that NGVAC has suddenly stopped being newsworthy. Fineman thought he was the Honey Badger, but in reality he was the crazy aunt in the anti-gun attic. No one on his side had the balls to go out on the offensive against the “gun...

While precious metals such as gold and silver make an excellent choice as a hedge against inflation or the devaluation of the dollar, they can be extremely hard to spend. Quite often bartering will become the alternative to cash which may have little or no value. There is where the law of supply and demand comes into effect. There may be a significant supply of cash for which there is no demand because it no longer has value. In a situation such as this, cash money will have little or no value for the purchase of goods which you may...

ORLANDO — While gun rights advocates from all over the map, including the Pacific Northwest, are gathering here for the kick-off of the 27th annual Gun Rights Policy, back home in Washington one can sense there is a “gun” battle of sorts heating up anew, over the elimination of a wolf pack in northern Stevens County. Wolf predation isn’t on the agenda down here in Disneyworld country, but it’s a safe gamble Evergreen State big game hunters and ranchers are waiting for political and legal fireworks to ignite because of the Wedge Pack eradication this week. Marksman have killed the...

John Dodson, the Special Agent who blew the whistle on the Fast and Furious gunwalking scandal, is calling on Fortune Magazine to retract its landmark article asserting that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives "never intentionally allowed guns to fall into the hands of Mexican drug cartels." In a letter addressed to Fortune managing editor Andrew Serwer yesterday, obtained by POLITICO, Dodson's lawyer called reporter Katherine Eban's article "demonstrably false in many respects" when compared to a report from the Justice Department Inspector General released earlier this month, and said "a retraction is in order to correct the...

Scooping other media with an exclusive story, Dylan Byers of Politico today reported he had obtained a copy of a letter dated yesterday from Robert N. Driscoll, the attorney for ATF whistleblower John Dodson, written to Fortune managing editor Andrew Serwer, that demanded retraction of a report by Katherine Eban the letter calls “demonstrably false in many respects.” Dodson is the agent who first put a face to Fast and Furious whistleblowers when he was introduced to the world by Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News in February, 2011, and called attention to government-sanctioned gunwalking to Mexico. Eban’s report represented itself...
