ORLANDO, Fla. — Authorities say a Florida firefighter who brought a handgun onto a flight out of Orlando will not be prosecuted. The unidentified woman told authorities she forgot she had a 380-caliber semi-automatic in her purse when she boarded a flight Thursday. The woman went through screening checkpoints at Orlando International Airport, but the gun was not detected. The woman told authorities about the incident when she landed at Newark Liberty Airport.

In July and August I worked on a post for Big Government about the human aspect of Operation Fast & Furious, the government gun walking operation that put guns into the hands of already dangerous Mexican drug cartels. The Old Media largely ignores Fast & Furious, but when they do pay attention, they scarcely mention the victims. Not until I put an enormous amount of pressure on The New York Times did they start saying "Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry" instead of just "a border patrol agent." Just when the media thought Fast and Furious had fizzled out, it seems Univision has done a little of their own investigating and will air it all tomorrow night (Sunday) at 7PM eastern. And the word on the street is that it’s a bombshell report.

The Obama administration clearly hoped that the Department of Justice’s Inspector General report on Operation Fast and Furious would be the last word on the scandal. which has been tied to hundreds of deaths in Mexico and the murders of two American law-enforcement officials. However, a new report from Univision to be broadcast tomorrow, previewed here by ABC News, may put the issue back on the front pages. One source called Univision’s findings the “holy grail” that Congressional investigators have been seeking:

Scooping other media with an exclusive story, Dylan Byers of Politico today reported he had obtained a copy of a letter dated yesterday from Robert N. Driscoll, the attorney for ATF whistleblower John Dodson, written to Fortune managing editor Andrew Serwer, that demanded retraction of a report by Katherine Eban the letter calls “demonstrably false in many respects.” Dodson is the agent who first put a face to Fast and Furious whistleblowers when he was introduced to the world by Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News in February, 2011, and called attention to government-sanctioned gunwalking to Mexico.
