L E B A N O N, Tenn. A 61-year-old man was shot to death by police while his wife was handcuffed in another room during a drug raid on the wrong house. Police admitted their mistake, saying faulty information from a drug informant contributed to the death of John Adams Wednesday night. They intended to raid the home next door. The two officers, 25-year-old Kyle Shedran and 24-year-old Greg Day, were placed on administrative leave with pay. “They need to get rid of those men, boys with toys,” said Adams’ 70-year-old widow, Loraine. John Adams was watching television when...

Spanish-language television network Univision plans to air a television special that it said reveals more violence than previously known, as well as the stories of how many more Operation Fast and Furious victims were killed, the network announced in a Friday release. “The consequences of the controversial ‘Fast and Furious’ undercover operation put in place by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in 2009 have been deadlier than what has been made public to date,” the network said. “The exclusive, in-depth investigation by Univision News’ award-winning Investigative Unit — Univision Investiga — has found that the...

In July and August I worked on a post for Big Government about the human aspect of Operation Fast & Furious, the government gun walking operation that put guns into the hands of already dangerous Mexican drug cartels. The Old Media largely ignores Fast & Furious, but when they do pay attention, they scarcely mention the victims. Not until I put an enormous amount of pressure on The New York Times did they start saying "Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry" instead of just "a border patrol agent." Tomorrow, September 30, Univision will be airing “Aqui y Ahora” (Here and Now)...

The Obama administration clearly hoped that the Department of Justice’s Inspector General report on Operation Fast and Furious would be the last word on the scandal. which has been tied to hundreds of deaths in Mexico and the murders of two American law-enforcement officials. However, a new report from Univision to be broadcast tomorrow, previewed here by ABC News, may put the issue back on the front pages. One source called Univision’s findings the “holy grail” that Congressional investigators have been seeking:

Who are the human faces of the U.S. government's botched "Fast and Furious" gun-walking operation? Often lost amid the rancor in Washington are the stories of dozens of people killed by guns that flowed south as part of the undercover operation, and later slipped out of view from U.S. officials. Univision's Investigative Unit (Univision Investiga) has identified massacres committed using guns from the ATF operation, including the killing of 16 young people attending a party in a residential area of Ciudad Juárez in January of 2010.

This year’s election is going to define the future of our freedom, perhaps more than any other in our history. That’s why I took the time to visit with Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential nominee, to find out precisely where he stands on the issues of concern to gun owners. Chris W. Professor Perliger explains that the "anti-federalist trend" to which he refers is "usually identified in the literature as the 'militia' or 'patriot' movement." While precious metals such as gold and silver make an excellent choice as a hedge against inflation or the devaluation of the dollar, they can be extremely hard to spend. Quite often bartering will become the alternative to cash which may have little or no value. There is where the law of supply and demand comes into effect. There may be a significant supply of cash for which there is no demand because it no longer has value. Should President Obama win in November, it’s a certainty he’ll try once again to ban lead ammunition. Just two months after he moved into the White House, the National Park Service suddenly announced it was banning lead bullets from its parks. The blowback from sportsmen was intense, so the agency backed down. Mr. Obama surely will exert “more flexibility” in a second term to accomplish this backdoor assault on the Second Amendment. Sen. Gun-toting demonstrators will not be able to openly display their unloaded rifles in California cities under legislation signed Friday by Gov. Jerry Brown. The governor vetoed a separate gun-related measure, however, that would have barred peace officers from selling to the public potentially unsafe handguns that are not available at stores. Two Assembly Democrats, Anthony Portantino of La Canada Flintridge and Tom Ammiano of San Francisco, carried the ban on open display of unloaded rifles, Assembly Bill 1527. The measure is a companion to legislation signed into law last year banning open display of handguns.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A New Haven convenience store owner fought back against a man trying to rob him and won Tuesday night. The owner fired off two shots in his store which was enough to scare him off. It was the third time he's faced a gun in an attempted robbery. ---------------------cut-------------------------- Fontanez has been face-to-face with robbers two times before, both times with armed suspects. All three times Fontanez has been able to scare them off. He is steadfast saying he has the right to fight back for what he has built in America.

The Cult to Stop Gun Rights Violence (CSGV) is all giddy this morning by an article in Mother Jones regarding mass shootings. Note that they are very specific about mass shootings instead of mass killings because it would derail their whole argument. It is the typical drivel we are used to read from such rags, but what really ticked me was More broadly, attempts by armed civilians to stop shooting rampages are rare—and successful ones even rarer. And one wonders why is that civilian attempts to stop mass shooters are rare. Maybe because Mass shootings are also rare? And because...

Christians are redeemed, but they can be hypocritical and self serving. They aren’t perfect. Furthermore, while Christians can be (though they are not always) sweet and loving, they have always impressed me as perhaps the most pitiful, naive, stolid simpletons on the planet. Sheep is a perfect description. I can say those things because I am a Christian, and not in the sense of ”God is love let’s all hold hands and sing kumbaya while we sway and dance ourselves into ethereal bliss,” but in the orthodox sense (e.g., belief in the trinity, the vicarious atonement, the deity of Christ,...

Yesterday, while campaigning in Ohio, Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan made a pit stop at Outdoor World to buy his 10-year-old daughter some camouflage clothing. We’re not talking about a trendy camo mini skirt. Ryan spent $101.14 on a hunting jacket and a pair of gloves for Liza to wear on her first deer-hunting trip. “She’s going to get to go hunting this year for the first time,” Ryan told NBC News. “She’s 10 years old so she can hunt starting at 10. “She’s been getting ready, she’s been practicing,” he added. “I just need to get her some...

Two burglars shot by a homeowner who was later arrested were given a stern warning as they were jailed today. Sentencing the pair to four years in prison, the judge told them: 'If you burgle a house in the country where the householder owns a legally held shotgun, that is the chance you take'. Joshua O’Gorman and Daniel Mansell broke in to Andy Ferrie's home near Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, in September. Businessman Mr Ferrie fired a legally-owned shotgun at the men after discovering the masked raiders in his kitchen. Mansell, 33, and O’Gorman, 27, both from Leicester, were injured during...

Recently, a delegation from Tucson composed of some of the survivors of the mass shooting of January 2011, in which Rep. Gabby Giffords was gravely injured, met with the U.S. attorney general, urging him to take action and letting him know they expect President Obama to present a specific plan to reduce the horrific gun violence plaguing the nation. In the wake of the two mass shootings this summer, some American physicians consider this country's gun violence a social disease. Mass murders of citizens by other citizens occur here with a frequency seen in no other nation in the world....

Colorful State Sen. Stacey Campfield seems to court controversy, particularly in his blog, Camp4u. So it was no real surprise when he took a reproachful tone in blog posts on Sept. 11 about the "gas for guns" program announced the day before by the City of Memphis and the Memphis Police Department. The city held a press conference on Sept. 10 to announce that on Sept. 15, it would conduct an event in which it would give people a $50 Mapco gas card plus two tickets to a Memphis Grizzlies basketball game for turning in a gun. The idea was...
