RENTON, Wash. - Renton schools have temporarily pulled "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" from the high school reading list because of complaints from a black family. The district will give teachers extra training before bringing the book back to classrooms. Renton High School Senior Calista Phair says she can't read a book that degrades her and her culture. Renton's curriculum director, Ed Sheppard, says a group of teachers will re-examine Mark Twain's classic and determine how they can teach it in a culturally sensitive manner.
