My sister bought a house last year in Navarre, FL, but before we could go visit her she was deployed to Trashcanistan. She will be back in a few weeks and we are going to go visit her for a family vacation. It will be me, my wife, and my 3 year old son. I am just trying to see if anyone has been there to see what all there is that is family friendly to do. My sister said it is like Destin, but without the tourists. I don't know, I haven't been to Destin either.

It was enough to make a trio of heavily tattooed young men stop their playful splashing and to prompt a small boy to run to his mother in alarm: a woman rising out of the choppy waves of the sea, her head wrapped in a neon-orange ski mask. As she made her way toward the shore, more people stared. A man floating in a yellow inner tube nudged his female companion, who muttered the question many others must have been asking themselves: “Why is she wearing that?” “I’m afraid of getting dark,” said the mask-wearer, Yao Wenhua, 58, upon emerging...

Hello FRiends I visited Cedar Grove Beach in the Staten Island borough of NYC a few weekends ago and saw this ridiculous display of police-statism. There are 3 lifeguards and a NYC parks ‘ranger’ with a dedicated ATV at all times. The beach is open 10-6 and is chained after hours with multiple cameras. Keep in mind this beach is maybe 500ft long and maximum number of people I saw on the beach was maybe 10. This was a 90+ degree sunny weekend day. Also, to add insult to injury, this was a private bungalow beach village until last year....

Chincoteague, Va. — Over the years, residents and tourists in this picturesque resort town have been guided by five gentle words: “Relax, you’re on island time.” But these days, laid-back Chincoteague is on edge. In a new plan to deal with beach erosion and prepare for sea-level rise, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed changes that the mayor, the chamber of commerce and homeowners say would eventually drive away summer tourism and drive down the economy that depends on it. Some of those changes would involve closing the beach and its parking lot, then opening a beach with parking...
