A new Bible college in central Florida has been established by Reformed theologian Dr. R.C. Sproul and his teaching fellowship, according an announcement this past week. Ligonier Academy of Biblical and Theological Studies in Sanford, Fla., was established as a "premier center for discipleship and for in-depth instruction and fellowship," announced Sproul's Ligonier Ministries on Tuesday. OWATONNA — Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, which has been in existence since 1957, is closing at the end of the year. On Tuesday, the Pillsbury Baptist Bible College Board of Trustees voted to cease academic activities on Dec. 31, said Tom Lawson, director of communications and financial aid at the school. Lawson cited national conditions combined with deficits caused by declining enrollment that exhausted the school’s financial reserves. It left the college without the necessary funds to complete the remainder of the school year.
