Fort Worth police broke up a cockfighting event that ended in the arrests of three men, and 130 birds confiscated, but many had to be euthanized. Officers were called to a home in the 4300 block of Windowmere Street just after 11 a.m. Sunday. Police said 95 cocks, 17 hens and 18 chicks were seized. Seventeen recently-dead cocks were also found on the property. "We humanely euthanized 90 roosters, all who were in some state of suffering," Diane Covey with the Fort Worth Animal Shelter said via email. "Some of the roosters were still wearing gaffs, they were bleeding from...

Three Chester County residents have been charged with animal fighting in a relatively new blood sport known as "hog dogging," where dogs attack and subdue feral pigs in a rodeo-style setting. State agents say Fort Lawn residents Arthur Parker Sr., 47; Arthur Parker Jr., 20; and Mary Evans Luther, 50, pitted the animals against each other and attended fighting matches. The elder Parker is accused of organizing fights across the state. State officials said the Friday arrests, announced Monday, were the first of their kind in South Carolina. One N.C. animal rights advocate said he was unaware of any case...
  • 'Internet's first blood sport' (getting even with Nigerian scammers)

Scambaiters lure fraudsters by pretending to be victims The messages — with their fractured syntax and wild promises — are a familiar sight in e-mail inboxes. Sent primarily from Nigeria, they promise recipients up to tens of millions of dollars if they agree to take part in an arcane banking scheme. Naive victims — spurred by promises of vast wealth that always remains tantalizingly out of reach — endure a constant drain of money as the scammers invent an endless series of fees and commissions, which will only end when the victim pulls out of the scam or is penniless....
  • Is the "Frank Dux" mentioned in the VVAW/Kerry 'Stolen Valor' fraud the "Bloodsport" movie Dux?

I've seen a list posted on here a few times that looks like this Kerry relied upon phonies and wannabes for support. His prominence has allowed current phonies and wannabes to continue the unsubstantiated allegations made all those years ago and which Kerry appears to condone even today. For example: Elton Mazione, claiming Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) credentials, Kerry's original organization, along with his friends, John Laboon, Eddie Swetz, and Kenneth Van Lesser. They claimed to kill children and remove body parts as part of the notorious Phoenix program. They were neither in Phoenix nor in Vietnam. Kerry's...
  • You're as Corrupt as Bush, Dean Tells Kerry (Give Him Hell, Howard!)

You're as corrupt as Bush, Dean tells Kerry February 13, 2004 Howard Dean's attempt at a political comeback took on a biting tone when he accused the Democratic presidential frontrunner, John Kerry, of supporting political fund-raising so corrupt it made him little better than President George Bush. His comment came just over a week after Dr Dean vowed not to criticise rivals to rejuvenate his campaign - a strategy Democratic leaders fear could weaken Senator Kerry, who has won 12 out of 14 primaries and caucuses. Dr Dean, once the leader in the polls, has failed to post a victory....
  • LA Times Editors Forfeited 'Troopergate' Scoop on Clinton

Defenders of the Los Angeles Times are claiming that the paper wasn't showing bias when it enthusiastically pursued last-minute "Gropegate" allegations against Arnold Schwarzenegger - saying the Times did the same thing to President Clinton when it published womanizing allegations against him in late 1993. However, the two reporters responsible for the Clinton report say Times editors had to be dragged kicking and screaming to cover accounts from Arkansas state troopers who said they procured dozens of women throughout the 1980s for the then-Arkansas governor. In fact, Times editors were so reluctant to cover the story that they forfeited...
