Initial reports from the Boston Police are citing 3 dead and dozens injured by 2 successive explosions at the Boston Marathon finish line. The Boston Marathon is an international spectacle, established in 1897. The world's best marathon runners train for this event and this attack certainly mars this historic event. As the situation is both breaking and dynamic, details about the background of the bombing are slowly emerging. An analysis of open-source intel, currently available, suggests that there is indeed a potential for there to be involvement on behalf of a foreign terrorist organization or even a home grown terrorist...

SPECIAL REPORT: Slam-Dunking Animal RightsPosted On July 28, 2003It's no secret that Leslie and Nanci Alexander, co-owners of the NBA's Houston Rockets franchise, are among the global animal-rights movement's biggest financial backers. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals even acknowledged the couple in 1998 for making "one of the most generous gifts we have ever received." Nanci Alexander personally donated over $225,000 toward the passage of a constitutional amendment that gave legal protection to pigs in Florida. But recently released tax records indicate that the Alexanders have also funded the operations of "Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty" (SHAC), one of...

The human cost of the War of 1812 was dramatic. Some 35,000 people were killed, wounded or missing at the end of the war. York (now Toronto), Niagara (now Niagara-on-the-Lake) and Washington, D.C. were torched. Elsewhere, homes and properties were looted and damaged and family lives were thrown into chaos. The borders between British North America and the United States might not have changed when the fighting stopped — the old lines were reconfirmed in the Treaty of Ghent, which ended the war on December 24, 1814. But once the treaty was signed, there wasn’t simply a return to the...

"Cry Havoc!, and let slip the dogs of war." -- Act III, Scene 1, Julius Caesar Not that you haven't noticed, Gentle Reader, but the world is coming apart. Again. Beginning with the Middle East, where, to put it as diplomatically as possible, all hell is about to break loose on Israel's border with Hamasland, aka Gaza. You can see war coming by the rockets' red glare, hear the bombs bursting in air as the first deaths are tallied. How many more before the hurly-burly's done, the battle's lost or won? Hundreds of explosive-laden rockets have been fired at random...

An anti-terrorist judge in France has thrown weight behind claims that the murder of American journalist Daniel Pearl and the bombing of French engineers in Karachi both had their roots in murky arms deals with Pakistani officials. By FRANCE 24 (text) In 2002, two brutal terrorist attacks targeting westerners in the Pakistani city of Karachi shocked the world. In January that year, the American journalist Daniel Pearl was kidnapped before being beheaded in cold blood by his captors. A video was later released showing his execution. “Palestinianism,†Iran/Hezbollah and the “bombings†in Syria - ‘crimes on its own people’ cultHistory is witness to the Arab-Palestinians and Hezbollah who have been using all the tricks in their ‘books’ to cause their brethren civilians’ deaths, especially among women and children. So, why is it so hard to grasp that Iran/Hezbollah/Syrian that tries to crack down on protesters are ‘not’ committing the same ‘crimes against humanity’ on Syrian land? Syria buries 26, skeptics blame regime for bomb - JPost By OREN KESSLER 01/08/2012 01:42 Syrian journalist to ‘Post’: Bomb scene footage looks suspicious; Arab League asks Hamas to push Assad...

Give the good ship Juliano some props -- literally. The Swedish-flagged craft was in the Greek port of Piraeus as part of a flotilla seeking to challenge Israel’s naval security cordon around Gaza when, according to flotilla organizers, “hostile divers destroyed the [ship’s] propeller house and cut the propeller shaft.” It seems that someone one-upped the peaceniks’ attempt to create an international incident. They should count themselves lucky no-one was hurt. Last year nine demonstrators were killed when they attacked Israeli naval commandos boarding the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara. And there are more direct responses in more serious cases. In...

Seoul, South Korea (CNN) -- Veterans of the South Korean military protested on the streets of the nation's capital Saturday, stating they were angry that their country's government had not done enough to respond to recent shelling by North Korea. Mark HofmannÂ’s name looms large in Utah history and Mormon lore, castigated as an evil genius and a fraud who deceived his church, his friends and even his wife. But 25 years after the master forger murdered two people with nail bombs and sent Salt Lake City into a panic, he remains an enigma. Despite a trove of books and scores of newspaper stories probing the Hofmann saga, no one is sure what forces shaped him into a liar and a killer and how he could do both so proficiently. Today, Hofmann lives quietly at Utah State Prison in Draper,...

Over the years, Islamic jihadist terrorists claiming to act in the name of Islam have targeted mass transit systems around the world.
