In my previous post I discussed the possibility of bribery being involved in the selection of the so called courage award for the actor formerly known as Bruce Jenner. I had planned to ask in this post if Disney might have ordered ESPN to give the award to Jenner because it was thinking about a movie deal with him to take advantage of his previous association with the popular Kardashians. Then I discovered that Disney had premiered its own reality show about a man becoming a woman called “Becoming Us” at the same time as the Vanity Fair article and...

Happy Father's Day to Caitlyn Jenner. On the first Father's Day since the 65-year-old Olympian, formerly known as Bruce, first introduced Caitlyn to the world, daughter's Kylie, Kendall, and Khloe shared heartfelt messages on social media. "Happy Father's Day my little light of sunshine," Kylie, 17, captioned a throwback photo of her as a little girl along with Kendall, Bruce and mom Kris. She then seemed to quote her father's comforting words as he began making his transition to life as a woman. "You can still call me dad, Kylie. No matter what I'm always going to be your father....

The idea that one’s sex is a feeling, not a fact, has permeated our culture and is leaving casualties in its wake. Gender dysphoria should be treated with psychotherapy, not surgery. For forty years as the University Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Medical School—twenty-six of which were also spent as Psychiatrist in Chief of Johns Hopkins Hospital—I’ve been studying people who claim to be transgender. Over that time, I’ve watched the phenomenon change and expand in remarkable ways. A rare issue of a few men—both homosexual and heterosexual men, including some who sought sex-change surgery because they...

It’s official — Caitlyn Jenner can now use the ladies’ room. The US Department of Labor has issued guidelines to private businesses that say transgender employees should be allowed to decide for themselves whether to use the men’s or ladies’ room. “The core belief underlying these policies is that all employees should be permitted to use the facilities that correspond with their gender identity,” according to OSHA guidelines released by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Labor Department. The National Center for Transgender Equality had requested the guidance.

When I was a budding 21-year-old, I took a job at a church in Calabasas. It was a brand-new church meeting in a movie theater, and as I relocated to Los Angeles for my first service, I learned the Kardashian family were major supporters of the church from its infancy. At the time I had to Google their names to figure out who this celebrity family was. They had previously attended a much larger church in the area and met a very charismatic and prolific pastor there. He ended up leaving the church, thinking he would never go back to...

A surgically damaged man appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair, and the applause is mandatory. There are some who call this latest turn in the sexual revolution “radical” or “transformative.” Yet, in reality, the only thing radical about Bruce Jenner’s transformation into “Caitlyn” is the harm to his body, inflicted in a desperate quest to be something that he’s most assuredly not: a woman. The transgender movement is but one small branch of the immense, self-regarding tree of the sexual revolution, and since it shares the same logic as such cultural catastrophes as no-fault divorce and abortion on...

The Vanity Fair photo of Bruce Jenner in a boob-enhancing swimsuit is being described as iconic. Bruce, one-time American athlete, now wants to be known as Caitlyn, having recently undergone some gender transitioning. And he’s using the cover of the latest Vanity Fair to make his ‘debut as a woman’. Next to the headline ‘Call me Caitlyn’, he’s all photoshopped svelteness, pampered hair and look-at-me breasts, in what many experts are already describing as ‘an iconic image in magazine history’. The photo is indeed iconic. And not just in the shallow celeb meaning of that word. It’s iconic in the...
