Can someone please provide the name of the site that provides default usernames for various sites requiring registration (e.g. NYT)? Someone has forwarded an article link to me, and I do not want to give out information to the site...

So, the Wall Street Journal has made bugmenot com take down its user names and pw for log ins. I don't want to get the wsj finance tools, just read the opinion or news page in order to post links on FR to articles of interest. Any Suggestions?

INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY Posted 11/30/2005 Some readers were miffed. Others said the online subscriptions would never fly. But two months after The New York Times (NYT) launched TimesSelect, a for-pay service based on the paper's Op-Ed columnists, numbers of readers are paying for online content that used to be free. The Times said in early November that about 135,000 Web surfers have signed up for TimesSelect. They're paying to access a bevy of Times columnists, including Maureen Dowd, Thomas Friedman and David Brooks.

Ever go to a posted story only to find out you had to create an account to read their babblings? Well, www.bugmenot.com was a clever site that posted usernames and passwords if you typed in the name of the news site. Seems they did not renew their domain name. Are there other comparable sites out there?

I was trying to bypass registration and my plugin wouldn't work so I went to www.bugmenot.com explicitly. I get this message: Notice: This domain name expired on 10/29/05 and is pending renewal or deletion Welcome to www.bugmenot.comBack in August it was reported that Bugmenot.com was having "hosting" issues and that possibly outside pressure was being applied to force them to shut down.

Your personal information has become big business on the Web. Most online companies count each registered user's personal info as a valuable asset. If you're registered somewhere, you have a price on your head. But there are ways around that. Beyond the creepy feeling of knowing your personal information is being used as a commodity, registration is annoying. You can choose not to register, but sometimes that means not getting the content you want, say, at the New York Times Web site. Anonymous registration A site called Bugmenot.com uses a community approach. People are encouraged to submit their logins at...

Just downloaded Firefox 1.0 and added the Bugmenot extension. Lets you read articles at NYT, LAT, ChicTrib, WashPost etc with out registering! Very Nice! I tried it at all of these sites and it worked like a charm. For those of you who dont know about BugMeNot, its a site that was set up to provide log ins and passwords for sites you have to register for, similar to the HillaryClinton/isaliar logon that was set up by FR users to avoid registration at the NYT. The browser extension links to BugMeNot and automatically fills in a log in and password...

Is the Bugmenot.Com website down? I've been trying to access it for a couple of days but it won't come up. For those of you unfamiliar with Bugmenot.Com, it is a GREAT resource if you want to avoid subscribing to newspapers since that takes up a bunch of time plus you end up receiving Spam from those newspapers in the future. At Bugmenot.Com you simply enter the URL of the newspaper you want to access and Bugmenot.Com supplies you with a username and password so you can avoid subscribing to the newspapers. Perhaps the newspapers have ganged up on Bugmenot.Com...
