This post is to ask for prayers for a very serious surgery I am scheduled to have this next Wednesday. It is a 4 to 7 hour long gastrectomy to remove my stomach with its related stage three cancerous tumor, now dead from chemo. I was diagnosed with stage 3 stomach cancer in July. The current “best practices” calls for four component FLOT chemotherapy, scan for lack of spread, gastrectomy if the patient can endure it, then a follow-up second four rounds of chemo. I have been undergoing cardiac evaluation the last week to see if I have a strong...

Cardinal Burke expresses ‘respect…gratitude’ for man who threw Pachamama ‘idol’ in Tiber November 11, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – Cardinal Raymond Burke praised the young man who last month threw Pachamama statues used in rituals connected to the recently concluded Amazon Synod into the Tiber river in Rome, saying he has “respect” for him and has “gratitude” for his “courageous witness to the faith.” In a new interview with The New York Times columnist Ross Douthat, Cardinal Burke for the first time commented on the Pachamama controversy that took place during the recent October 6-27 Pan-Amazon Synod in Rome. In this...

[Catholic Caucus] Cdl. Burke: Synod Is Apostasy and Attack on Christ’s Lordship Burke slams Amazon and German synods in new interview ROME (ChurchMilitant.com) - Cardinal Raymond Burke is calling out the German bishops as the masterminds behind the Amazon Synod, calling the synod an apostasy and an attack on Christ's lordship.  In a new interview with Sohrab Ahmari, contributing editor of the Catholic Herald, published on Friday, Burke addressed the upcoming Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazonian Region and upcoming German synod. He slammed the Amazon Synod's working document as "a direct attack on the Lordship...

[Barf Alert] Does Cardinal Burke think Francis is an antipope? Yes, this is a serious question, and I don’t ask it lightly.Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke just stated his love for and fidelity to Pope Francis—so how can one even suggest he thinks Francis is a false pope?I am not engaging in idle speculation, neither do I intend an attack on Cardinal Burke. But the evidence strongly suggests that Cardinal Burke strongly doubts the legitimacy of Francis’s papacy. Indeed, my sincere hope and prayer is that I am wrong, and that the cardinal will clarify the situation by publicly affirming his...

[Catholic Caucus] Now We’re Getting Somewhere: Cardinal Burke and Bishop Schneider Finally Point the Finger at Pope Francis Courtesy of the Remnant Newspaper In an addendum to their historic eight-page declaration against the errors of the Instrumentum Laboris for the upcoming “Shamazon Synod,” as Michael Matt dubs it, Cardinal Raymond Burke and Bishop Athanasius Schneider finally squarely identify Pope Francis as the ultimate source of “the almost general doctrinal confusion which is reigning in the life of the Church in our days,” which they had hitherto attributed to some sort of malaise of indeterminate origin. The addendum begins with the usual...

[Catholic Caucus] Cardinal Burke: Francis' "Personal Opinions" Are Not Catholic Teaching Francis’ condemnation of capital punishment is Pope Francis' "personal opinion as a man,” Cardinal Raymond Burke explained. During a July 21 question and answer session for the Marian Catechists in La Crosse, Wisconsin (full audio below), he invited his audience to buy a copy of the Catechism "as it is now and keep it in a safe place“ [laughter]. Burke noticed that in former days the popes spoke little and avoided expressing personal opinions not to cause confusion. Now, "we have the situation of a Pope who speaks a...

Have the present-day progressives who say they admire him ever read him? The American Left has an abiding attachment to Theodore Roosevelt. Everyone from MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews to former Harvard University Press editor-in-chief Aida D. Donald keeps Roosevelt on hand as a stand-in example of a “good Republican” — invoked, perhaps, when the name of Abraham Lincoln has been outworn, and a new exemplar of “acceptable” Republicanism is needed. A “trans-partisan” figure and an original “progressive,” Roosevelt represents what the GOP could have been. But on the social issues that loom so large in the liberal Democratic mind, just...

In his speech on Conciliation with America, Edmund Burke said the following to the House of Commons: Slaves as these unfortunate black people are, and dull as all men are from slavery, must they not a little suspect the offer of freedom from that very nation which has sold them to their present masters?--from that nation, one of whose causes of quarrel with those masters is their refusal to deal any more in that inhuman traffic? An offer of freedom from England would come rather oddly, shipped to them in an African vessel which is refused an entry into the...

Cdl. Burke: Relaxing priestly celibacy for Amazon region would affect universal Church ROME, June 20, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) — Cardinal Raymond Burke is challenging recent assertions made by Amazon Synod organizers, saying “it is not honest” to suggest that the October meeting is “treating the question of clerical celibacy for that region alone.” “If [the synod] takes up the question, which I do not think it is right for it to do, it will be treating a discipline of the universal Church,” Cardinal Burke told LifeSiteNews on June 19. “In fact,” the cardinal added, “already a certain Bishop in Germany has...

‘Totalitarian’: Cdl. Burke criticizes Vatican-backed universities’ ban on prof who accused pope of heresy June 3, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – Cardinal Raymond Burke stated that leaders within the Catholic Church appear to be falling into a “kind of totalitarian mentality” with regard to their treatment of Professor John Rist, one of the original 19 signatories of the Open Letter to Bishops accusing Pope Francis of heresy, who was barred from Pontifical Universities without explanation in the wake of signing the Open Letter.  “We seem in the Church to fall into a kind of totalitarian mentality, where people are simply exercising authority...

Cdl. Burke: Opposing Mass Muslim Immigration a ‘Responsible Exercise’ of Patriotism On citizens' duty to resist anything contrary to the moral order Opposition to "large-scale Muslim immigration is a responsible exercise of one's patriotism," Cdl. Raymond Burke told an international conference in Rome Friday. Responding to a question on the morality of resisting Islamic mass migration at the Rome Life Forum, Burke warned the West of "immigrants who are opportunists, in particular in the case of Islam, which by its definition believes itself to be destined to rule the world, coming in large numbers to countries." Islam by its definition believes itself to...

Cdl. Burke: It’s ‘responsible’ for Christian nations to resist ‘large-scale Muslim immigration’ ROME, May 17, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) ― Resisting “large-scale Muslim immigration” is “a responsible exercise of one’s patriotism," Cardinal Raymond Burke said today. The Cardinal made the remark at this afternoon’s Question and Answer session at the Rome Life Forum in Rome. The session immediately followed Burke’s address on filial piety and national patriotism.   Burke had been asked, presumably apropos of Pope Francis’ refusal to grant an audience to Italy’s deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini, if a politician who resists large-scale Muslim immigration should be refused a papal...

Why only two? http://www.ncregister.com/blog/edward-pentin/cardinals-burke-brandmueller-abuse-crisis-symptom-of-turning-away-from-trut Dear Brothers, Presidents of the Conferences of Bishops, We turn to you with deep distress! The Catholic world is adrift, and, with anguish, the question is asked: Where is the Church going? Before the drift in process, it seems that the difficulty is reduced to that of the abuse of minors, a horrible crime, especially when it is perpetrated by a priest, which is, however, only part of a much greater crisis. The plague of the homosexual agenda has been spread within the...

Wikileaks Publishes Crucial Papal Letter on Order of Malta Affair The letter from December 2016 reveals Pope Francis supported Cardinal Raymond Burke’s view that the distribution of contraceptives by its humanitarian arm had to stop. Edward Pentin Wikileaks today published a confidential letter confirming that Pope Francis strongly opposed the Order of Malta distributing contraceptives as part of its humanitarian work and that he wished the issue be “completely resolved.”  In the letter, dated Dec. 1, 2016, and addressed to Cardinal Raymond Burke, the patron of the Order of Malta, the Holy Father stressed that the Order “must ensure that...

Edward Burke Jr. was arrested at his home in Winnetka after a family member told police he pushed her and authorities reported finding him “highly intoxicated” and “belligerent.” But by the end of the next business day, the domestic battery charge had been dropped. The swift reversal occurred after the accused man — the son of Edward Burke, Chicago’s longest-serving alderman who is now charged with attempted extortion — managed to get his case before a Cook County judge, apparently without the assistance of an attorney and despite the fact he wasn’t due in court for another week. The arrest...

A mixture of surprise, anger and disappointment from City Council members Wednesday in the wake of a Chicago Sun-Times report stating longtime Ald. Danny Solis wore a wire to assist the federal investigation into Ald. Ed Burke. The story sent shock waves through Wednesday’s City Council meeting, at which Solis was noticeably absent. The 25th Ward alderman, who is not seeking re-election, is reported to have recorded more than a dozen conversations with Burke over the last two years. Like Burke, Solis has been a powerful, longtime alderman. He is the former head of the Hispanic Democratic organization and longtime...

It's Apostasy, Not Schism – Cardinal Burke The present Church does find herself in apostasy from the Faith - not in schism, Cardinal Raymond Burke told TheWandererPress.com (January 17). Bishops, priests and laypeople “have effectively abandoned the Catholic Faith by espousing teachings and practices that are contrary to the Deposit of Faith”, he added. Burke criticises “the silence of so many cardinals and bishops” who should defend the Faith “vocally” because in the Church's tremendous confusion and growing division it “can never be right” to remain silent. Ed Burke, Chicago’s longest-serving alderman and one if its most powerful, was charged with extortion in federal court on Thursday. The chairman of the city’s finance committee, who’s been in office for fifty years after succeeding his father, knows a thing or two about money. According to federal investigators, the former city cop used his power to tie up the business licensing process for a southwest Chicago Burger King restaurant to force the owners to steer their legal business to his firm. From the Sun Times: After the company struggled to have its permits approved, it agreed to steer business...

CHICAGO (CBS) — He’s been a staunch supporter of gun control measures for decades, but in a surprising twist, federal prosecutors revealed Thursday that nearly two dozen firearms were discovered in Ald. Ed Burke’s offices during their raids in November. It’s still not known if the guns that were found in November were discovered at Burke’s ward office or at City Hall, but it’s hard to miss the irony of a staunch gun control advocate having to turn over 23 guns as a condition of his bond. From outlawing cell phone cases shaped like guns to bans on concealed weapons...
