Cleveland Cavaliers coach John Beilein made an emotional apology to his players Thursday morning, insisting he regrets referring to the team as "a bunch of thugs" in a Wednesday film session, league sources told ESPN.

Lounging at an outdoor cafe just outside downtown San Francisco, his athletic frame filling out a slim-fit button-up, a talkative tech worker named Daniel detailed the many ways he's optimizing his existence. Only the previous week, he says, he returned from a 10-day trip to Italy's Amalfi Coast. Before that, he boasts, he journeyed to a yoga retreat and juice cleanse in Bali, the perfect setting to unload the stress he absorbs working at a well-known tech company in Silicon Valley. After ending a five-year marriage and shedding 10 pounds of subcutaneous fat several years back - his sun-kissed body...

As President Washington said, we are thanking "...that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be-- That we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks--for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of His Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war--for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed and also...

Sometime ago a FReeper posted that his browser was warning him that Free Republic was "Not Secure". I just noticed that my browser, Opera, is giving me the warning in the area where the site www.freerepublic.com title is located. Is this something that happens on all browsers? I haven't noticed it before and have been using Opera for many years.

Can any FReepers tell me why search defaults to keywords? For me, it is nearly impossible to find a specific article using them. Changing the search criterion to titles is a much better way, I feel. Is there some purpose for search being so, in my opinion, hard to use?

Just heard Rush Limbaugh's morning update. He said due to Apple CEO's anti free speech "sermon", his cooperation with Apple is over.

The starting lineups are announced in English and Spanish at home games for the independent Texas AirHogs. And then the Chinese national anthem is played. For about 30 members of the Chinese national baseball team, the suburban ballpark a few miles west of downtown Dallas has become their summer home and training ground in an unprecedented setup.

President Donald Trump called conservative media personality Matt Drudge "a great gentleman" and his website Drudge Report as "great" in an interview with Fox News on Friday morning. "Drudge is great by the way," Trump said to "Fox and Friends" host Steve Doocy. "Matt Drudge is a great gentleman, he really has ability to capture stories that people want to see."

Case in point, I was able to view a menu board from a Dairy Queen sometime not very long after 1955 (I can tell, because it had the dilly bar on it and Dilly Bars were introduced in '55). Anyway, the price of the next to the largest dipped cone is 25¢. Back then quarters were 90 percent silver. Today the melt value of the silver in one of those quarters will buy you the LARGEST dipped cone DQ sells ($3.29, Indiana) and you'll get change back. Current melt value of pre 1964 quarters is $3.32.

While there are many posters here who enlighten and inform me, the thing that has me unable to tear myself away from Free Republic are the rantings and ravings, on sociopolitical issues, by a host of keyboard warriors who frequent this site.

Thanks to @GlennBeck for having me on your show this morning! We had a good discussion on what's at stake in this critical race.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said during a Tuesday press conference that he would attend a GOP debate hosted by TheBlaze. "Sounds OK to me," Trump said cheerfully when asked about the prospect by a reporter.

Knowing how much interest there is here concerning Glenn Beck's pronouncements, I thought I'd post this.

Why was it OK to have Super Bowl I, V, X, but not L?
-
Reading the, maybe justified, criticism of Glenn Beck here, I'm reminded of the quote, "A prophet hath not honor in his own country."

Several years back, whenever someone would post a picture of a female, a member whose SN was Lazmataz would post a one line response ie, "I'd hit it!" Recently I've noticed a poster here who posts longer replies and sometimes even creates his own threads with references to conservative topics. This poster uses the SN LazAmataz and gets confused, by many here, with the aforementioned Lazmataz. My question: With what I perceive as different styles, are these two posters one and the same?

I just heard a conversion, on the radio, between the show's host and a doctor concerning flu shots. The host asked, "What do you tell people who won't get a flu shot because they say it makes them sick?" The doctor replied, "Well, after you get the shot, you can't get the flu, but you might FEEL like you have the flu because of the reaction to the shot by your immune system". I don't know, but if I take something that makes me feel like I have the flu, I think I'd be safe in saying what Monica Lewinski's...

Has anyone out there ever gotten those credit card offers where they want to give you money (sometimes $400.00) to use their card?

Just heard on the 1:00 PM EST Fox news that Nancy Pelosi has denied she knows who Jonathan Gruber is, although there is documentation that his input was included in writings she used and quoted in 2009 before ramming Obamacare through.
