  • Panel: Global warming a threat to Earth

I’m dying for one of these ‘genius’ 2500 at the IPCC to explain to the rest of us why before there was a United States, China, Saudi Arabia, industrial revolution, H2’s and hot air from Al Gore, why there was around 320 ppmv’s in the atmosphere.

This not to mention how they can prove that this increase in global temperature is actually ‘scientific’ as if you look at the list of the 2500 ‘scientists’ on the panel of the IPCC you will find delegates and NOT scientists for the most part. You find people still on their list who left the panel years ago because they disagreed with it.

But I guess I shouldn’t confuse this very well thought out ‘investigation’ with those silly things called FACTS.

President Bush could declare a state of emergency, sign executive orders, etc... He has plenty of executive powers at his disposal to enforce U.S. and protect our borders. There are funds that are appropriated for emergency situations and if this isn’t one I don’t know what is.

They also plan on engaging in lobbying that week after the rally. The White House is suppose to be a symbolic gesture to the President to be the law enforcer that he is suppose to be.

But I didn’t plan it, just passing on the info I found and read about.

When are we actually going to see a real legitimate organization for the U.S. government and people to go to speak to a real spokesmouth for the Islamic community in the U.S.??? I just don't get it!

I really can't think of a single Muslim within my inner circles that can relate or even say that CAIR is a real representation of them. We need to get to the bottom of where their funding is realy coming from.

What more can we expect from our now socialist education system. It's no longer about educating students in primary education such as reading, writing, and arithmetic. Is all about making students feel good... whether it be through sex education for free laptops. I'm really not sure if we are just kicking the ball down the field or just trying to buy people off at this point with free goodies and sexual discussions.

I am all for diplomacy first but the simple fact of the matter is that we can not put ourself in imminent danger as a result of Iranian defiance, beligerance, and contempt for diplomacy. United States foreign policy must first be dictated by our own national security and interests and not at the sacrifice of our very existant and or security.

If I may make small observation about this news story and the countless others, I don't believe this is an issue of Islam being what you characterize it as being all of these 120 casualties were who... Muslims.

Now that is an article that I find to be a little disingenuous to say the least. Sure these events did occur in Iran but that doesn't mean that relative to Saudi Arabia that we should be any more friendly or open with Iran. Iran is a regime ruled by a ruthless tyrannical regime that is based on unadulterated nihilism.

We should not be playing games as this author is in the article comparing anecdotal evidence only to make Iran not look like a bad guy after it has threatened if given the opportunity to test a nuclear weapon in Tel Aviv. This is a regime we are in a defacto state of war with in Iraq and Israel was with in Lebanon. Iranian agents are popping up across the middle east fuelling the fire of terrorism.

Both are equally dispicable. One provides and ideology and financing being Saudi Arabia and the other provides not just that but also overt support, training, funding, and personnel to carry out their armageddon dream. I love the Iranian people but we must not allow our emotions to get the best of us when dealing with a tyrannical regime that wants us nothing more than exterminated.

I can't believe the madness coming from Congress. I want to know why the Joint Chiefs are not coming out with strong recommendations for an air campaign. We should be as overt in flexing our military muscle and sending in large fleets of stealth bombers and destroyers to launch tomahawks from. This is madness that we are going to allow a vowed enemy of the United States led by a nihilistic murderous regime to acquire a nuclear weapon. This is completely insane, WE WANT REAGAN, WE WANT REAGAN!

If i'm not mistaken Sura 8 ayyat 12 refers to the Battle of Badr as described in ayyat 10-12. Aside from that, how is Islam infringing upon your rights? Islam is simply an idea. It's a faith, only people can infringe upon your rights not an idea. Your opinion about any religion is fine but let's be clear about what is infringing what and I don't see Sharia law or Islam forced down anyones throat here in the U.S.

Well isn't that your own interpretation and personal opinion about Islam? You have your freedom of speech but your first ammendment right can not infringe upon mine in freely exercising my Constitutional right as an American.

I don't mean to get involved in this discussion but as ambiguous as the Constitution seems at times, I always found the Constitution quite clear in terms of religion. Free exercise is an inalienable right of all Americans as long as it doesn't infringe upon anyone else's rights and the government shall have no religion itself. Thus how can religion be denied and how can religion be in government under the current framework provided by the Constitution?

Sorry I wrote this article while I was at school so I wasn't able to engage in a dialouge with anyone on here until now. Actually I wasn't born in the United States but I grew up here and the U.S. is pretty much all I know. It's where I swear my allegiance to, I don't say i'm anything else but American. I am an observant Muslim and no I didn't convert. I went to public school like most others and I live on the east coast. I don't want to get more specific in case some angry people do read this.

Actually it's really interesting that you ask about the issue of the mosque, I do attend regularly as well as the prayer services we have on campus. In terms of the main mosque I attend, they severely limit political speech to avoid this very issue all together. They have zero tolerance for people mixing religion and politics or trying to use Islam to justify various political opinions. The Imam says things like, remember to vote and participate in the political process like everyone else so that you are represented but that's about it. In terms of the members of the community though most don't identify or sympathize with any sort of militant elements. I would say almost everyone is very embarrassed by the actions of these groups, and that they have brought more damage to us all than anything anyone else could possibly do. But what some have said on this thread is why they don't speak out. One is because they do fear for their families because you never know where one of those psychos may pop out from and if they hear you. People really do fear these people because of the reputation they have, especially in the countries where most Muslims come from. I also feel that the community rather needs a tipping point to will overtake the fear and I do believe that is coming to the growing pressure where Muslims are really starting to feel like outsiders and they really don't want to feel like that. So if being more inclusive means actually being active and not passive in trying to keep and extra ear out for anyone really radical than they are going to do it.

A prime example recently has been this guy Osama El Dawoody in NYC who turned in a would be homicide bomber on a subway train.
