    Sec. 102. Policy Direction. (a) The National Security Council shall provide overall policy direction for the National Industrial Security Program. (b) In consultation with the National Security Advisor, the Director of the Information Security Oversight Office, in accordance with Executive Order No. 13526 of December 29, 2009, shall be responsible for implementing and monitoring the National Industrial Security Program and shall: (1) develop, in consultation with the agencies, and promulgate subject to the approval of the National Security Council, directives for the implementation of this order, which shall be binding on the agencies;

    Here, the Clinton campaign and the DNC retained the law firm of Perkins Coie; in turn, one of its partners, Marc E. Elias, retained Fusion GPS. We don’t know how much Fusion GPS was paid, but the Clinton campaign and the DNC paid $9.1 million to Perkins Coie during the 2016 campaign (i.e., between mid-2015 and late 2016). [Snip] In its capacity as attorney for the DNC, Perkins Coie – through another of its partners, Michael Sussman – is also the law firm that retained CrowdStrike, the cyber security outfit, upon learning in April 2016 that the DNC’s servers had...

    Recently obtained documents raise new questions about Lois Lerner’s role in sending confidential tax returns to the Justice Department. It is likely the largest unauthorized disclosure of tax-return information in history: the transfer of some 1.25 million pages of confidential tax returns from the IRS to the Department of Justice in October of 2010. And it was almost certainly illegal. The documents, which consisted chiefly of non-profit tax returns, were transferred to the DOJ’s criminal division from the IRS at the request of Lois Lerner, who wanted to get the information to the DOJ in advance of a meeting where...

    Sec. 844. Determination by jury of membership in Communist Party, participation, or knowledge of purpose In determining membership or participation in the Communist Party or any other organization defined in this Act, or knowledge of the purpose or objective of such party or organization, the jury, under instructions from the court, shall consider evidence, if presented, as to whether the accused person: (1) Has been listed to his knowledge as a member in any book or any of the lists, records, correspondence, or any other document of the organization; (2) Has made financial contribution to the organization in dues, assessments,...

    on review, you may come to believe that the NRA’s concern was misplaced only by understating the threat to your rights. In particular, remember the phrase “technical data and detailed schematics for…production.” We’ll come back to that. Explaining how the ITAR and these proposed changes work takes some unpacking. This is quite technical, which is probably why the reporter who asked the question didn’t understand the true meaning of the answer provided. Bear with me, I think you’ll come to see that what the State Department’s claim to all this being misplaced concern, masks a fundamental shift that will have...

    "The Speaker can not be unmindful of the fact, as evidenced by three previous elections to the Speakership, that in the past he has enjoyed the confidence of the Republican Party of the country and of the Republican Members of the House; but the assault upon the Speaker of the House by the minority, supplemented by the efforts of the so-called insurgents, shows that the Democratic minority, aided by a number of so-called insurgents, constituting 15 per cent of the majority party in the House, is now in the majority, and that the Speaker of the House is not in...

    New York Times ^ | Sept. 11, 2001
    National Briefing | Washington: Rumsfeld Attacks Bureaucracy Published: September 11, 2001 Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said that he was declaring war on bureaucracy in the Pentagon and that he wanted to combine some civilian and military staffs, cut duplication in the military services and shift some jobs to the private sector. In a Pentagon speech, Mr. Rumsfeld gave few specifics but said the changes were vital to saving every penny for modernizing the nation's military. Calling bloated bureaucracy a security threat, Mr. Rumsfeld pointed out that the Army, Navy and Air Force each had a general counsel's office, that...

    Richmond Times Dispatch ^ | Sept. 5, 2013 | J. Daryl Byler
    While I opposed the International Criminal Court, the ICC is precisely the place the U.S. should be bringing action against Assad. That would be more effective than a strike, and would rally a great many countries behind us. I disagree with Byler on many things, but this one he's bang on about. Byler: Don’t strike; shame the perpetrators J. Daryl Byler | Posted: Thursday, September 5, 2013 12:00 am ... Why not use the International Criminal Court to indict and try Syrian leaders for war crimes? Perhaps the most effective long-term strategy is the one least often mentioned in the...

    Sidwell Friends School ^ | August 10, 2012 | Sidwell Friends School
    White House Press Secretary Jay Carney says the NRA's ad is "repugnant and cowardly." Setting aside the irony of a Quaker school with armed guards, do you suppose Jay thinks it is "repugnant and cowardly" for Sidwell Friends School to be advertizing to fill a vacancy for armed guards? Armed guards are a routine part of exclusive high dollar private schools in big cities like Washington. And the elite demand nothing less. But don't you dare protect your kids! For those outside the beltway, Sidwell Freinds is fameously where the Clintons sent, and Obamas send, their children to school. Tuition...

    OccupyDC continues to accept ”clauses and preamble” submissions at McPherson Square. Previously a process was developed for the writing for the Declaration of the Occupation of Washington DC. A “clauses and preamble” drop box was built and will be available for one week on the square. The box is for any individual who visits the square to submit written ideas on the ways in which society is failing them. These ideas will be presented at daily general assemblies beginning Monday, October 17, to enable the entire group to work toward consensus on the Declaration.
