WPS Health Insurance announced today that it is adjusting its resources in response to competitive pressures and recent losses in the government contract market. The company will adjust resources across the corporation. Staffing impacts could affect 600 positions, though this number is subject to change. The actual adjustments and timeframe depends on the outcome of protests and additional opportunities. Adjustments will occur in phases over the next year. Notices to staff will begin as early as November 2012. Recent activity in the company’s government business lines makes the reductions necessary.

After his meteoric ascent to the top of the American political arena in the country’s history, we are now in the midst of witnessing one of the most stunning collapses of any man ever to hold the office of President of the United States. Over the past few weeks we have begun to see the ultimate unraveling of support for the president, with women and youth fleeing from his side. But what is even more surprising and perhaps unimaginable to the president and his faithful media cult is that he is now also losing members of his normally deemed “untouchable”...

Bad news will greet Vice President Joe Biden when he arrives in Wisconsin Thursday night. Hours earlier, Oshkosh's largest employer announced that it will lay off 450 employees in January. Oshkosh Corp., a truck manufacturer with Pentagon contracts, blamed the "difficult decisions" on looming cuts to the nation's defense budget. "As Oshkosh and others in the defense industry have discussed on numerous occasions, domestic military vehicle production volumes will decline significantly in 2013 due to the reduction in U.S. defense budgets and the fact that military spending is returning to peacetime levels," the company said in a statement. "Unfortunately, these...

The marquee Senate race this year is in Massachusetts, where Democrat Elizabeth Warren is challenging incumbent Republican Sen. Scott Brown. "I never thought I'd run for public office, but I feel the urgency of this moment," says Warren. "If we don't make some important changes and make them soon, this country is going to change fundamentally, and it's not for the better." Democrats took notice of the former Harvard professor late last year, when a video of Warren speaking on fair taxation and debt surfaced online. "There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody," Warren...

Former Governor Tommy Thompson and Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin are in a near tie in Wisconsin’s down-to-the-wire U.S. Senate race. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Wisconsin Voters, taken the night of the candidates’ second debate, shows Thompson with 48% support to Baldwin’s 46%. Three percent (3%) like some other candidate, and another three percent (3%) are undecided.

Here is the statement released by Senator Neal Kedzie: Early on Friday morning, October 19th, my son Sean was awakened by noises outside his residence in Whitewater. President Obama's campaign has raised millions of dollars, but officials in Springfield Illinois are still griping about an upaid bill from a 2008 campaign rally. When he was a candidate in August of 2008, Barack Obama used Springfield as a backdrop to introduce Joe Biden as his running mate. However Springfield Alderman Frank Edwards tells WLS that the Obama campaign has refused to pay $55,000 it owes in police overtime costs: "If you're going to go after your citizens for bills they owe you then everybody's in. And that's just kind of the way I look at it. I think...

The Huffington Post, ever eager to curry favor with anti-American pundits and racists posing as free-thinkers, has published a screed by Marc Lamont Hill, who is a black professor at Georgetown University, titled “The 15 Most Overrated White People.” Keep in mind that this is a man who not only praised convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu Jamal, but published Jamal’s writings, and also was accused of supporting Fidel Castro and Khalid Muhammed. So who are some of the people on Hill’s list? Christopher Columbus, described as “an immoral treasure hunter” and a “vicious conquistador.” Elvis Presley: a “cheap facsimile of Little...

Liberal Fox News legal analyst Tamara Holder said Thursday that fellow network contributor Michelle Malkin is “angry” and “probably needs to get laid.” “I don’t know her personally but I am not a fan of her debating style, I think that she probably needs to get laid,” Holder told host Don Imus on Fox Business Network. “She’s very angry.” “She needs to get laid?” Imus asked. “Yeah,” Holder replied. Imus then asked, “How’s that working out for you, by the way?” “Well not so well, but I’m not angry,” Holder said. “I cope with it in other ways.”

On the Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor” Wednesday night, comedian and radio talk show host Dennis Miller sounded off about Republican’s so-called “war on women,” taking aim at Democratic National Convention speaker and self-proclaimed birth control activist Sandra Fluke. According to Miller, Fluke would do a lot for her country if she would quit complaining about birth control. Last week, NBC’s “The Tonight Show” host Jay Leno confronted Miller about his politics and told him why he identifies with Democrats over Republicans. One of those reasons Leno alleged was the Republican “war on women,” which Miller responded to in...

Neither Jay Carney nor Romney mentioned Rahm in their respective statements on the strike (Carney punted on the matter altogether, not surprisingly), but Ryan knows a political opportunity when he sees one. In a standoff between two of Obama’s biggest cronies, his former chief of staff and the unions that bankroll him, The One’s going to strain mightily to remain scrupulously neutral. Romney/Ryan’s task: Make that neutrality as uncomfortable as possible. The only surprise, says National Journal, is that it took the campaign this long to twist the knife. “If you turned on the TV this morning or sometime today,...

First Lady Michelle Obama’s pitch to voters last night relied on the premise that she and her husband understand what it is to struggle to make ends meet. She spoke movingly about their early years--about how a young Barack Obama drove a car that was “rusted out" and found his furniture “in a dumpster,” how they both came from families that had to “scrape by.” Her fairy tale--however well-delivered--was one great, big, colorful lie.

On August 28, 2012 the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced the launch of a $150,000 television ad campaign across Missouri highlighting President Obama's extreme record on abortion and featuring abortion survivor Melissa Ohden. Missouri has recently been at the center of the conversation on abortion. "In light of the recent national discussion over abortion, it's important Americans know the President's best-kept secret: his extreme record on abortion. Melissa Ohden's powerful story draws a stark contrast to his unbending support of abortion and the abortion industry and reveals the human face to this debate." said SBA List President Marjorie...

Potty training is often considered an unpleasant task facing parents, but under current social norms, it has to be done. And like most bathroom activities, it’s usually a private event. One mother of twins in Utah, though, took her training public, placing her daughters on potty training toilets — you know, the plastic seats with a little toilet lid — at a public restaurant’s table. KSL-TV reports Kimberly Decker, who was in the restaurant at the time, snapped a photo of this disturbing scene and posted it on Facebook.

Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob a convenience store early Wednesday with an electric drill. A man wearing black jeans, a black sweater and a black mask entered the Kwik Shop near First Street and Cornhusker Highway at 2:49 a.m., Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood said. He demanded money and held an object concealed under a towel to look like a gun, Flood said. The clerk, however, noticed a drill bit and saw a cord hanging from below the towel and refused to give the man money. After the clerk told the man she thought it...
