One of the historic realignments from Election Day. Pollsters talk about the Jewish vote, but there's very little actual measurement of it. What you mostly see are national online polls which are nearly worthless when talking about a minority group that is largely concentrated in areas that are not in swing states. There is one really big exception. Florida. It's got one of the largest Jewish populations in America, it's a swing state, and the Jewish vote there has tended to go toward Democrats. That's clearly changing. The president won 43 percent of the Jewish vote in Florida, a historic...

Israel TV Channel 1 reported Friday night that following last week's Hizbullah shelling in the north the Air Force dispatched fighter jets to Syria which buzzed the palace of Syrian President Bashir Assad in a warning to rein in Hizbullah. The warplanes reportedly swooped in low over Assad's summer palace in the port city of Latikia where Assad was at the time. Assad reportedly saw and heard the jets, the TV reported. The aircraft later buzzed Beirut, but the message was apparently received and Hizbullah kept their anti-aircraft cannons in the north quiet. The IDF Spokesman refused to officially confirm...

About 10 years ago, Dan Resler saw a magazine picture of an aquarium filled with beautiful plants.

It piqued his creative spirit, so he got on the Internet and went looking for information on aquatic plants.

What he found was "a cozy little community" of like-minded aquatic plant enthusiasts who were more than willing to chat with him and help him set up his own aquarium. Through the years Resler has met 10 or 15 of the aquarists he corresponds with, but mostly the gang gets together on the Internet, where they belong to a discussion group called the Aquatic Plants Digest.

  • Rally in Richmond Virginia

    12/09/2000 2:24:31 PM PST · by Blennos · 637+ views
A small but grimly determined band of right thinkers, beset by feelings of despondency and frustration at the perverse ruling of the Florida Supreme Court, putting aside shopping plans and any personal dispositions, met near the Virginia State Capitol to continue the weekly tradition of protest rallies here in the Capital of the old Confederacy. While not nearly as large as the group last week, this collection of diehards, marched, chanted, and otherwise signaled their dissatisfaction with the state of democratic politics in this country. As the rally was nearing its designated end point, with spirits flagging and cold corpi, ...

  • Richmond Virginia Rally Biggest in History

About 100 enthusiastic and noisy freedom fighters joined in a rally Saturday near the Virginia State Capitol. The theme of the event was "No More Gore" and many variations thereof. We had one television station cover the event, and they dutifully gave us a pretty fair report on their evening news. One can almost feel the fire amongst the once silent conservatives igniting in this country. Cars passing by gave us encouragement by honking horns, blinking lights and showing the "thumbs up" sign. Even a city police car drove by and honked in support. The few unreconstructed miscreants who drove ...

A small but intrepid band of patriots braved a nasty rain and cold temperatures to meet near the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond Virginia. They persevered until their signs melted away under the steady, freezing torrent. The police were friendly and supportive. One member dressed in a goose outfit and carried a sign that said "GORE -- Your Goose is Cooked". Another, a Freeper named Doohickey, carried a "Sore Loserman" sign. There were old and young, men and women, students and some children. Many, many of the cars that went by expressed their approval by honks, blinking lights, and giving ...
