OK all you military FreePers......Has the USMC reduced its recruiting requirements? There appears to be a recruiter running around locally telling High School Seniors to drop out of school and he'll have them in Boot Camp within 2 weeks of signing the papers..... Is he legit or someone who's afraid of loosing a stripe for failure to fill his quota?

Politics: House weakens ethics rules on lobbyists Copyright © 2003 AP Online By LARRY MARGASAK, Associated Press WASHINGTON (January 7, 2003 7:31 p.m. EST) - House Republicans unraveled some of their strict ethics rules Tuesday, passing changes that would allow charities to give lawmakers free travel and lodging at resorts and make it easier for lobbyists to send complimentary food to congressional offices. The move by the Republican leadership was so well hidden that it even caught leaders of the House ethics committee by surprise. A Republican leadership aide called the changes cosmetic, but Democrats characterized them as a serious...

Federal V.I.P. Penn - 11/13/02 Last Thursday I was flying to LA on the Midnight flight. I went through security my usual sour stuff. I beeped, of course, and was shuttled to the "toss-em" line. A security guy came over. I assumed the position. I had a button up shirt on that was untucked. He reached around while he was behind me and grabbed around my front pocket. I guess he was going for my flashlight, but the area could have loosely been called "crotch." I said, "You have to ask me before you touch me or it's assault." He...

The upcoming 2005 Base Realignment And Closure (BRAC) commission will trim excess domestic base infrastructure, which is estimated at 25% too large and costs billions of dollars a year. In addition, heighten base security is now a tremendous financial drain, and older buildings constructed during the Cold war have decayed and need replacement. The four previous base closure rounds now save our military $6.6 billion dollars each year. Read this GAO report (pdf) for more information. Nevertheless, there is a movement to derail the next round of base closures by convincing people it is cheaper to keep all bases open...

It is further evidence that academia’s enemies of free speech have dropped all pretense at fairness. The case involves two students at ASU who tried bring balance to the campus lecture program, the “free marketplace of ideas” that campus leftists have used as an excuse for bringing in every Marxist advocate they champion. Reprinted from NewsMax.com A Surprising Voice Calls From Our Backyard Christopher Ruddy Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 With Americans focused on problems in the Middle East, particularly those relating to terrorism, and with Republicans relishing recent election victories, we should not forget that a disastrous situation now faces America in our own backyard. Recently, I returned from a visit to Panama, one of the most strategically important nations in the Western Hemisphere. My friend Wilson C. Lucom lives in Panama City – and has been warning Americans of the threat now posed by the increasing communist influence in Central America. We...
