When Deanna Sporleder's 17 year-old son announced he was spending the night at his 16 year-old girlfriend's house, her home life turned upside down, and part of it was subsidized by federal grants to the local school.Deanna and her husband were against their son leaving home and moving in with his teen girlfriend, but the girl's parents consented and the local law enforcement, both county and city, told Deanna that at seventeen, her son could move out and they had no power to stop him. A few months later, she while signing her other children up for school, she asked...

When you think about bullying in public schools, it's generally in the context of a bigger kid picking on a smaller kid. According to Susan Kimball, a kindergarten teacher of 20 years in the Sikeston Public School District, it's administrators and fellow teachers bullying and intimidating her, all because she opposes Common Core. At yesterday's Senate Education Committee hearing, Kimball testified she has suffered from bullying and intimidation since she began speaking out about the controversial standards. [caption id="attachment_25492" align="aligncenter" width="639"] "You have no idea what I have been through over the past six weeks because of my stand." -...

The whole world is watching Maryville, Missouri. The Daisy Coleman case is international news. It's a story of a girl assaulted and discarded by a privileged boy, only to be attacked by a town that rallies around a powerful, corrupt politician. But as this story unfolded, there were cracks that many weren't really talking about, either from the raw emotional response to the story or because they just didn't dare question the narrative out of fear. While they don't disprove Daisy's story and it's possible what she claims is the truth, these cracks need to be discussed, as an entire...

In the October 12 article, "Nightmare in Maryville: Teens’ sexual encounter ignites a firestorm against family," Kansas City Star reporter Dugan Arnett told the story of Melinda Coleman. According to the article, Coleman's daughter Daisy was raped at the hands of Matt Barnett, grandson of Rex Barnett, an influential Republican and former state legislator. Allegedly, because of that political power, not only were the charges against Barnett dropped, but the Colemans were targeted and harassed. The article also suggests Melinda was fired from her job at Southpaws Vet Clinic because she dared to cross the Barnetts. However, according to Dr....

Recently we published a blog outlining Governor Jay Nixon’s less than stellar record of being upfront with Missourians. Nixon Administration Misleading Record In true “the buck doesn’t stop here fashion” Governor Nixon ran from his record calling the video in the blog a “personal attack”. Knowing that the Governor’s record is less than stellar, I can understand why he would run from it! Today’s video once again addresses the Governor’s record – his fiscal record. When he ran for re-election, he wanted everyone to believe he was a fiscal conservative. You know – balancing the budget (the legislature did that)...

United for Missouri released a video this morning that the St. Louis Beacon descrbes as "the first time that the groups seeking an override of the governor’s veto have directly attacked Nixon." Carl Bearden writes at United for Missouri: The Governor’s track record of claiming to know what is going on in his administration is pretty dismal. His willingness to take responsibility, having the buck stop at his desk, is non-existent. His ability to be trusted… The Governor’s track record of knowing what is going on in his administration is pretty dismal. His willingness to take responsibility – having the buck...

Yesterday while I was continuing my Twitter questioning of Sen. Jamilah Nasheed, I did a quick review of her Twitter stream to see if she's mentioned Tyrese Short, a 9 year old boy killed in a drive-by shooting in her district. She hadn't. She still hasn't. But she has time for this: Middle Eastern Mad Libs: “Egypt is ____________” http://t.co/IjalmoiipD via @CFR_org— Jamilah Nasheed (@JamNasheed) July 17, 2013Fun fact: after asking her over and over again why she is silent on Tyrese, but marching for Trayvon, she blocked me: So much for dialogue. (Click here to ask her why she...

I attended an event in St. Joesph held by the Northwest Missouri Republican Club. The event featured a speech by Republican State Senator Brad Lager, who is entering his final year in the Senate. During his speech, Lager told the group about something that occurred during the last session that he’d never seen before. Here’s that section of his speech: One of the senators mentioned, Sen. Dr. Rob Shaff, said the President Pro-Tem of the Senate, Sen. Tom Dempsey, told him there would be repercussions for killing the tax bill. Sen. Dr. Rob Shaaf, claims Sen. Dempsey punished him for...

I spent Thursday, Friday and Monday mornings calling every county sheriff's office in Missouri. Those guys are hard to track down. Many of them are working sheriffs and catching them in the office is rare. Out of the 114, I was able to speak with forty-five, which is nearly 40 percent, a fairly good sample. I asked each of them the same three questions: Do you support authorizing specially designated people to carry concealed weapons on school grounds?Do you agree with the age requirement for a concealed carry permit being lowered to 19?Do you support the effort to make the...

When I started setting up The Torch, I did a lot of research on what left leaning sites were focusing on Missouri. The bulk of the links I reviewed I found at the official website of the Missouri Democratic Party. What I didn't expect to find was a website selling me on the theraputic effects of Japanese massage aromatherapy, but that's exactly what I found when I went to the link posted on the Missouri Democratic Party's website for the Missouri House Democrats. Seriously, see for yourself. First, open this link in another tab or window. Now, under "Meet the Party," click...

Today Sen. Claire McCaskill visited Northwest Missouri State University to talk about student loans. She started the talk off in spectacular fashion, telling the students if it wasn't for the benevolence of the Federal Government, only the rich would go to college: [Video] When she mentioned she's had three 17 year old sons but wouldn't loan them money, I had to laugh at of the irony of it. She wouldn't loan them her money, but she'll gladly loan them yours. And let's not forget about the logical fallacy you just heard. It's a popular one for leftists: What Claire posited...

Obama wants us all to feed into his collectivist nonsense regarding personal achievement, but what about the negative impact government has on us? Behold the results of Obamanomics. In Portland, Maine, President Obama's re-election headquarters is on the second floor of a two story brick building. The first floor is home to a mattress and flooring store. But not for long. This speaks more than a thousand words. Obama, above it all, while the businessman loses everything. Please retweet this post with #ObamaDidThis and share the microsite, ObamaDidThisOnHisOwn.com on Facebook.

This is important information to know, especially since the left’s main talking point is this all started under Bush and Holder stopped it. That’s a lie.

The portrait was created and presented by Jim Jimitis, or Anthropocon. The words that comprise Andrew's face were comprised of Breitbart quotes. It is beautiful and brilliant. Dana Loesch has a beautiful Instagram of the portrait.

On December 12, 2011, Jacob Turk entered Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri, stood before a microphone and asked those who had gathered before him, "Has our economic outlook improved over the past year? Have we revived the job market? Has our national debt declined? Unfortunately, the answer to all three questions is No." Turk then announced he would be challenging Rep. Emanuel Cleaver's hold on Missouri's Fifth District for a fourth time. You read that right. Jacob Turk has run for Congress three times before and lost, each time against Emanuel Cleaver. That hasn't dissuaded Turk in the slightest....

Freepers, I have made some advertisements for three Republican Congressional campaigns over the past few years on a freelance basis. I helped Dan Benishek in Michigan, Renee Ellmers in North Carolina and a candidate running in California named Steve Foley. I also produced the Catholic Advocate video that took Obama to task for reneging on promises made at Notre Dame regarding conscience clauses for religious reasons. You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY7oMvKE_5E I've decided to establish an LLC for video production and would like your input on the logo. I've posted them below and would love to know which you...

It dawned on me that I hadn't done anything for Black History Month yet. So, while brainstorming what I could do to help celebrate black history, I decided that a few graphics were in order. I'll be putting them out a few at a time all week. Here's three to kick things off: This is part of black history that isn't pointed out very often.

President Obama was trying to bring Jesus in as a class warfare warrior today, saying that as a Christian, Jesus expected him to fleece the rich: The rich should pay more not only because “I actually think that is going to make economic sense, but for me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus’s teaching that ‘for unto whom much is given, much shall be required,’” Obama said at the Washington Hilton, delivering remarks at an annual event that every president has attended since Dwight D. Eisenhower. “We can all benefit from turning to our Creator, listening to him,”...
