Hey, Tom Brady — deflate this football at your own risk. According to the Toronto Sun, the NFL is planning on inserting customized data chips into game balls for the 2016 preseason, beginning next month, and for Thursday Night Football regular-season games. The Sun reports that narrowing the goalposts could be one of the results from this experiment. Our emails and calls to the league for confirmation weren't immediately returned. With a data chip embedded in the game balls, the league's front office could gauge how close each made field goal measures through the uprights. The NFL could also estimate...

Ontario is introducing gender-neutral driver's licences and health cards. Beginning in early 2017, drivers will be able to select X, instead of an M for male or F for female for their licences. And this month, the province started issuing health cards that no longer display information about a person's sex on the front of the card. People who want a new health card without the sex identifier before their regular renewal date can obtain one immediately through ServiceOntario at no cost. The Liberal government says it is making these changes "to ensure the fair, ethical and equitable treatment of...

A man whose face was left permanently scarred after the tables were turned on him when he and an accomplice tried to rob a jewelry store in Park Extension has been sentenced to a 12-year prison term. Richardson François, 31, received the sentence Wednesday afternoon during a hearing at the Montreal courthouse. Quebec Court Judge Hélène Morin mentioned the fact that François ‎remains heavily scarred by the nitric acid that was tossed in his face in January 2013 while reading from her judgment. But she did not list it as a mitigating factor when she explained how she reached the...

FORT PIERCE — At least four regular customers at the Orlando gay nightclub where a gunman killed 49 people said Monday that they had seen Omar Mateen there before. "Sometimes he would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself, and other times he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent," Ty Smith said. [SNIP] Smith told the Orlando Sentinel that he saw Mateen inside at least a dozen times. "We didn't really talk to him a lot, but I remember him saying things about his dad at times," Smith said. "He told us he...

The late Penn State University football coach Joe Paterno knew about sexual abuse allegations against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky as early as 1976, according to an assertion in a Philadelphia court order made public Thursday. The claim emerged in a dispute over who should pay Penn State's share of about $60 million in settlements with 26 men who say Sandusky abused them when they were children — the university or its insurance company. Previously, the abuse was widely thought to have occurred from 1994 through 2008, when Sandusky ran a youth charity called Second Mile. But in the new...

What sort of man is lurking deep inside Donald Trump’s innards? [SNIP] Evolving? Projecting an image? Moderating? Back in the South those are code words for snookered, two-faced and phony-as-a-two-dollar-bill. Oh, Donald. What have you done? Say it isn’t so. “Donald Trump is telling the American people that he’s lying to us,” Sen. Ted Cruz said on the campaign trail Friday. “His campaign is now run by Washington lobbyists.” [SNIP] In just the past few days we’ve seen him begin to waffle on issues like abortion and religious liberty. Pro-life groups are extremely concerned by comments he made about rewriting...

First of all, I should have started earlier. Christmas got in the way of my redditing. Second, the second day of Smithmas was supposed to be a video of Gordon B Hinkley slipping up in an interview and saying "Jesus Smith" instead of "Joseph Smith". Unfortunately, the video has been banned from the internets, and it took me all day searching just to confirm that I couldn't find it. My third day of Smithmas would have been a photo of the Joseph Smith SphinxI may have followed up with more Joseph-worship, but got sidetracked by the video being killed, and...

Situated at the heart of Salt Lake City, Utah, Temple Square is the spiritual, cultural and administrative center of the Mormon faith. This ten acres plot of land includes a Temple, a domed tabernacle and numerous buildings, monuments and memorials. While this place may seem holy and wholesome, a closer look at the structures reveal the presence of occult, pagan and masonic symbols. A deeper study of those grounds only adds to the controversy regarding Mormonism and reveals the disturbing truth about its real god. This article's intent is not to condemn Mormonism as a faith, but rather to analyze the...

The evidence of Joseph Smith's close connection to occultism and Freemasonry, and how this influenced the origin and development of the LDS Church is not well known outside of scholarly circles. This article summarizes the evidence for Joseph's personal involvement in both Freemasonry and occultism, and their influence on the Mormon religion. "There is absolutely no question in my mind that the Mormon ceremony which came to be known as the Endowment, introduced by Joseph Smith to Mormon Masons, had an immediate inspiration from Masonry." — Dr. Reed Durham, LDS Historian Mormonism's Link to OccultismBoth Joseph Smith and his father...

OSCEOLA, Ind. (UPI) - Strange things have been happening at the Walter Szlanfucht home here, and his family won’t come home until he finds out what is causing them. Szlanfucht told police Sunday night an “unseen force" has been moving furniture, making sounds and throwing pebbles against the side of his house. Police Capt. Richard Handley said he went to the home in this community east of South Bend and saw a picture fly off the wall and a heavy ashtray shattered into pieces. “If I had not been a witness to this," Handley said, “I certainly would not have...

Evil Spirits from the spirit prison and from Hell. Elder Parley P. Pratt described the difference in appearance between these spirits and the righteous spirits which dwell in paradise. Persons who have departed this life, and have not yet been raised from the dead are spirits. These are two kinds, viz.--good and evil. These two kinds also include many grades of good and evil. The good spirits, in the superlative sens of the word, are they who, in this life, partook of the Holy Priesthood, and of the fulness of the gospel. This class of spirits minister to the heirs of salvation,...

People who have died are very important to members of the Mormon Church. The dead are a very important aspect of the Mormon gospel. The sixth President of the Church, Joseph F. Smith, taught, “We will not finish our work until we have saved ourselves, and then not until we shall have saved all depending upon us; for we are to become saviors upon Mount Zion, as well as Christ. We are called to this mission. The dead are not perfect without us, neither are we without them [see D&C 128:18].” (Teachings of the Presidents of the Church, Joseph F....
