    Dear Republicanprofessor and others,

    1. Join the NAS. I am the new president of the New Jersey chapter. It is great for ideas, learning, and the best moral boster around.

    2. Most professors have a great deal of leeway in which books they use. I currently use my own book , A Reader for the Politically Incorrect. But I also use books by Thomas Sowell and others.

    3. Invite speakers who make a difference to your classes. The students are in awe of military veterans.

    4. If you are outspoken, the right students will find a way to your door. When they do I always have literature I can hand to them or recommend.

    5. I would not be so hard on the unions. Our union is a good one. If you have the right leadership they are often the only folks who will fight against such ideas as speech codes. They did so on my campus and killed the idea.

    6. Give yourself and our ideas a seat at the table. For example, it is perfectly legitimate to assign a newspaper like the Wall Street Journal in many different classes. It is well written and can serve to supply examples of the best
journalist writing around. It can be used in political science and a variety of other courses.

    7. Use your travel money to go to conservative conferences.

    8. Join your state National Association of Scholars.

    Sincerely,

    George Zilbergeld

Yesterday on FOX News I thought I heard an author say that under Clinton the FBI had reduced its agents by 25 %.

Is that correct? Does anyone remember such a comment or anything close?

    Dear Good People,

The problem is simple and simple to fix. Our men are riding around in vehicles that are not built to take a heavy blow, like an explosive device. Indeed, many are riding around in vehciles that have no more protection than your car or SUV. Actually, many are riding around in vehicles that have canvas body parts.

Take a look at the burned out vehciles. Do you see a tank? NO. Do you see a Bradley fighting Vehicle? NO. Our men are riding around in vehicles that were NEVER MEANT FOR THE TASK AT HAND.

WE NEED VEHICLES THAT CAN ABSORB a heavy blow. Without going into the blame game there are only a few solutions.

    1. We can armor the humvees. This is being done now. But this is a rather small plant, American General Motors, that as far as I know, produces ALL the armored humvees. They have geared up but this still it is just one plant. I don't care if the vehicles are built in an open field-I want them built now.

    2. We can pull the armored humvees from places where they are not needed .e.g. Bosnia, and send every one to Iraq. This is being done IN PART ONLY !
We should pull all of our troops out of places like Bosnia and send every one to Iraq. The Europeans can handle the task. Even if they can't, we need the armored humvees in Iraq.

    3. We can buy vehicles made by the Germans that are supposed to take a minefield explosion and keep the occupants alive. We have ordered some.

Think: It is very rare for the Israelis to have this kind of
explosions and take casualties. Why? They believe in armor-heavy armor.

We might be able to play a large role here. Most folks are watching without much knowledge of the situation. We are large enough in number to make a difference.

Our point,I think, is focused enough: Our soldiers in vehicles travel in armored vehicles or not at all. We should ask what we would want if our son was in a vehicle.

I am not so good with the computer so I would appreciate it if someone who knows what they are doing makes sure this is posted. We can make a difference.

Let us help those guard us while we sleep.

    Dear MadIvan,

Tommorrow I am going to a debate about the possible war with Iraq.

Your post has provided me with the perfect question for leftist opponents of the war: "An Iraqi recently asked why people like you didn't speak up in 1991 when Saddam killed hundreds of thousands of people, but now that people will die to free the Iraqi people you lament the loss of life-why? How would you answer this question"?

    Thanks

Can you explain one thing about the concept of the Atkins diet?

I agree that it works-but if high-carb diets produce fat people why it is that culture that have a high carb diet have so few fat people? For example Vietnam, China etc?

IS IT THE LACK OF REFINED CARBS? Do these countries use unrefined carbs? What is the difference between refined and unrefined carbs?

    Thanks

Dear Pokey and others 1. The newspaper cited is not independent. It is a marxist rag. It is constantly cited by a faculty member who is a Stalinist Communist on my campus ( yes, there is one). 2. The college is considered the last of all of the state colleges. It is a University in name only. You go there if you can not get in to any other school. 3. It has been taken over by the plitically correct loonies. More so than any other campus. 4. The students at my school are overwhelmingly in favor of the war effort. You only have to look at the fals in their car, backpacks, tshirts. etc. etc etc. 5. The only folks who seem to against the war effort are some faculty and the Moslem students on campus. The myths you analyze are exactly what the leftist professors said at a forum we had on my campus! They are desperate to find reasons why we should NOT react in a vigorous manner. Dr. Z
