  • Waiving COVID Patents: A Step to Socialism

I think there’s something missed here. The prevailing thinking is that by “waiving” patent rights; we would somehow make the vaccines cheaper and more available to other countries.

This is debatable, perhaps even doubtful.

To manufacture these vaccines, even with the intellectual property of the patent holders, will require huge investments in plant / equipment / and storage facilities.

It’s not that they would be cheaper, or even more available, but that the nationalized pharmaceutical manufacturers of other countries could cash in on the distribution of vaccines.

"Cheney’s only crime of course is her belief that the GOP needs to wash its hands of Donald Trump"

This is bullshit. She's openly sided with the Democrats characterization of anyone who questions the 2020 election as a nut job participating in "The Big Lie." She repeats the Democrat talking points about the January 6th INSURRECTION. She's changed sides. It's retarded to talk about what she voted for years ago as an excuse for becoming a mouth piece for left wing propaganda.

  • Dan Bongino to replace Rush Limbaugh…

Bongino is fine, but this is a bit disappointing.

At the risk of being insensitive, Rush was terminal for about a year. I was hoping that during that time there were some sort of planning for a host or group of hosts to carry on the EIB flagship. I’ve been a Rush 24/7 member for years, and routinely listen to the download version of the show. Just don’t see myself downloading and listening to Bongino.

We’ll see, hopefully we’ll see or hear some new voices emerge.

I tend to disagree with the “once in a lifetime” description of the 2 day cold snap that in Texas on 2/14 and 2/15. The only thing that made it a memorable event was that the power went out during the first 12 hours and didn’t return for many people for 4 days. That lead to broken water lines and property damage.

This wasn’t a “Hurricane” as much as it was a failure of public policy to keep the power on when temperatures went below 10 degrees as far south as San Antonio. That’s happened many times in the past - and it will happen again.

Until we build adequate reliable electric generation capacity - we’re going to see similar outcomes.

I think there’s a better strategy than “Primarying” Thune.

How about backing a real conservative in the Democrat primary? Conservative Republicans could cross party lines and join with Conservative Democrats to beat a left wing fanatic.

If it doesn’t work, and the left wing Dem wins, worst case - vote Thune back in.

Problem with the Primary strategy is that if it’s successful, Thune will either run as Independent, or his supporters will sit out the general, throwing it to the left wing Dem.

Glad he did it, but hard to get excited about lifting months of restrictions that should have never been put in place.

I think his own words are indicative, paraphrasing... The time to open is NOW - so we’re going to open in 10 days.

Between this and the power failure, he’s got real political problems.

Kimball’s piece is well thought out, but I think the push for Trans acceptance (preference?) is simpler.

The left and media rely on their ability to “create” reality rather than “report” reality. This is a test of the limits of human gullibility. If they can convince people that a man is a woman - they can pretty much convince them of anything.

In a reciprocal sense, if Conservatives can’t win the argument that a man is not a woman - we probably can’t win any argument.

I fear this may become a backdoor assault on American mobility. Unless there are quantum leaps in battery technology, EV’s just don’t have the driving range to allow us the real options to go where we want, when we want.

I start thinking of how cell phones started getting “better” by eliminating things. First the removable battery, then the head phones jack, now expandable memory. None of those changes were due to “market” demands - but rather decisions by a couple of major manufacturers to force us to buy phones more often, wireless earbuds, and cloud storage products.

Now it seems car manufacturers may be following suit, telling us what’s good for us - and we’ll need to move closer, shop closer, and forget about leaving the state - except on approved public mass transit.

    We’ll see...

Finally, somebody gets it. This is a problem created by lack of conventional power generating capacity. This wasn’t a weather event. It was a power outage event.

The weather wasn’t really that extreme. We’ve hit lower temperatures 5 times since records have been kept - and we dip into the teens every 3 or 4 years. We either have to accept that a few times a year we’re going to be in “rolling blackouts”, build new generating capacity, or augment our own homes and businesses with local power generation.

This is all true. There’s no reason we should rely on 23% of our energy production from wind. But the real problem is we don’t have enough conventional energy production to handle peak cold weather demands.

This wasn’t a 100 year event. It was about a 20 year event. The only thing that made it “historic” is that we couldn’t keep the lights / heat on causing closures, freezing pipes, water shut downs etc.

Same here. We’re technically a conservative state, but the State Government and Bureaucracy are loaded with libs who dominate the energy policy. Like every other state we’ve been shutting down nuclear and coal plants for over a decade and building wind mills. It’s a disgrace and embarrassment.

Actually, they may be right, but for all the wrong reasons. The suppression of the fact that Covid-19 is of little risk for those that are in good metabolic health and have Vitamin D levels of 30+ comes into play here.

The natural effect of having dark skin is to require more time in the sun to produce Vitamin D. Accordingly, Blacks, especially those who live in northern latitudes, tend to become vitamin D deficient (especially in winter months) - so they are at somewhat greater risk - and consideration of that fact in ranking priorities is entirely reasonable.

Of course, this is isn’t why they propose using race for consideration in vaccine ranking - but it provides an opportunity to make a point that has been widely supressed.

    Have to disagree...

Trump became the personification of what was once called “The Tea Party.” The policy positions of, rejecting multi-lateral international trade deals, refraining from senseless wars, rolling back regulations, and enforcing the borders - while promoting Domestic commerce are policy positions that resonate broadly and could be successfully advocated by a future candidate.

I don’t particularly like Trump, but I believe his policy positions were right for America. Sure, there are some Trump cultists out there - but I believe the breath of support for his fundamental policies is quite large.

The site goes in and out, probably from not being able to meet the capacity of people checking on it, but...

It’s not back. The site is just a static web page with a couple of hard coded “parley’s” from a couple of people. It’s not an active application.

I wish them the best, but they don’t seem to really have their sh!t together. Building the app in AWS wasn’t the smartest thing, although I realize that the AWS environment is the easiest way to create an application. Not having local backups of their source code is mystifying to me. I also realize this is tedious, but they were saying they were a BILLION dollar company.

It’s pretty clear now, any non-conforming social media will need to be built from bare metal on an internet trunk line. I’d even suggest they seek out a physical trunk line that crosses an Indian reservation. This will take a significant investment - but certainly doable for a market of 75 million users.

Interesting that they found actual lengthening of telomeres. There’s been a good deal of progress in “anti-aging” research in the past several years. David Sinclair at Harvard has done significant work in this area. I’d been interested to see if this process would show a difference in aging as measured by Sinclair’s “Horvath Clock” as opposed to just measuring telomere length.

Might also be worth noting, much of the “anti-aging / bio-hacking” community has also been largely banished from social media for questioning much of conventional medical wisdom; such as suggesting that being metabolically healthy and maintaining adequate Vitamin D levels offer significant protection from having extreme outcomes from Covid-19.

If an unarmed black person were killed in this protest, the NBA would already have her name on their shirts and NFL would be threatening to not play the playoffs until they got “justice,” and BLM would be terrorizing the home of the officer that did the shooting.

Does anyone even know the name of who shot Ashli Babbit?
