New national totals:Gore 48,707,413Bush 48,609,640The difference has been falling all day. It is now 97,773. While I know the popular vote total makes no difference, ALL their arguments become moot if Bush can gradually overtake Gore in the popular vote.

Sorry for Vanity...but in first editions of USA Today, the DUI story is on page 11 and written straightforward. Instead the paper has interviews with each candidate above the fold.I do not know where the placement of the DUI story is in the Washington Post, but it is not on the front page.Maybe the effect is minimal.
