DES MOINES (DTN) -- When gray wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park during the mid-1990s, it started a heated debate between wildlife enthusiasts and ranchers that has never cooled down. The ongoing clash of opinions recently hit the airwaves. Residents in Bozeman, Mont., are the first in the nation to hear anti-wolf radio messages paid for by the Montana Stockgrowers Association. The messages, which will air for the next 60 days, were created to call urban attention to the economic impacts on ranchers caused by wolves, said Steve Pilcher, executive vice president of the Montana Stockgrowers Association. Bozeman was...

A minute-long prayer invoking the name of Jesus Christ has cost a Christian conservative his job, according to longtime political activist Dennis Mansfield. "The irony is the very man being prayed for fired me," Mansfield told WorldNetDaily. Parents Television Council, or PTC, hired Mansfield in September to serve as the organization's executive director, but abruptly fired him after he invited a colleague and Episcopal minister to offer a prayer closing an awards ceremony and fund-raising event on Nov. 14. "It was a normal, ordinary prayer," Ted Baehr, chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission and the man who delivered...

The United States government is doing everything it can right now to tone down any anti-Islamic remarks coming out of the "Christian right." Even President Bush is continuing to paint Islam as "a peaceful religion that respects others." Yet all one has to do is turn on the nightly news that reveals a different image of Islam. It looks like Washington's political leadership is trying to box up any Christian voice that might make a negative commit about Islam as anti-American. What's up with that? Maybe we are missing something here. Without being disrespectful to a Republican leadership that was...

Dear Editor: This is a response to a pro wolf advocate stating that there has never been an attack by a "HEALTHY" wolf in North America, July 8,002 15 By Joy York, It has been widely discussed whether a healthy wild wolf has ever attacked a human on this continent. In fact, many say such attacks have never occurred in North America. HISTORY STATES OTHERWISE! It depends on which century you want to research wolves attacking and killing humans,1800's, 1900's or 2000's. Noted naturalist documented wolf attacks on humans. John James Audubon, of whom the Audubon society is named, reported...

Eric Barker An Orofino man is licking physical and emotional wounds after wolves attacked his horses on the Little North Fork of the Clearwater River. One horse had its back broken during the attack and two more where chased off by the wolves and have not been seen for more than a week. Bror Borjesson, who lives between Orofino and Lenore, fears that they are dead and he has lost not only three horses but three pets. "We think they have been run out into the brush by the wolves and eaten," he said. "It's just a bad deal." Borjesson...

I have been enjoying FreeRepublic for some time but have never joined in until now. I am busy working on two county commissioner races here in Idaho. Both of my candidates are Vietnam Vets, one a Marine and one from the Army. We are, at the moment, designing their signs. My question is: Would it be appropriate to put some kind of Vietnam Vet, Marine, or Army symbol on the sign? If so, do any of you have suggestions?
