There are a couple ways to get rid of the cabbage worms. The hardest is to go out ever day and pick up the leaves and squash any you see, I do this when looking at my garden each day. I also spray with BT, an organic pesticide that works great. Finally there are powders you can use, but then you can not pick them for a period of time, dont use them myself so cant tell you a lot about them.
Started a Bay tree in a container last week. My new raised beds are really appreciating the rain. Thinned out my tomato seedings, had two or 3 in each large cell. Seems like a heck of a waste. Wanted to make sure I had enough though.
Peppers are coming along a bit slower, but will likely thin them next week.
Have cabbage, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower and romaine lettuce coming along nicely. They survived the frosts this week nicely, can’t say the same for my basil.
Have tomato, San Marsano, Mortgage Lifter, Brandywine and Sweet 100, and pepper, Pepperocinni,Habanero, and California something or other, coming along nicely. Was actually pleasantly surprised at the germination rates especially on the peppers, got at least one in every cell.
Will get my first ever head(?) of cauliflower this weekend, has me a bit stoked. Radishes are about done, Tomatoes, Squash, Pumpkins, Peppers, and Cukes are all doing well. Just wish it would stop raining and heat up a bit.
Lots of flowers on Tomatoes and Peppers but no fruit set yet. Cukes have both male and female flower so hope some of them set.
I actually have done quite a bit of research on ADA with a previous employer. One of the interesting aspects of the ongoing litigation is that Smoking is not in and of itself a disability. It is an addiction. It does not directly create problems in the work environment, individuals can still perform the basic requirements of the job.
Other addictions such as drug and alcohol abuse create direct problems that can effect these basic abilities. Once you reach the stage of absenteeism, absent mindedness and other symptoms occur you would be covered by ADA. However, prior to that point you are theoretically not covered.
ADA only covers the disability itself not the underlying addiction.
