It’s not like these cops don’t have some practice in this behavior.

Isn't that what anal-ists said when President Reagan deregulated the airline and telephone industries?

And how are these industries doing right now?
There are FEWER phone companies now than before dereg, and the airlines are bleeding like a stuck pig.
Dereg is a good idea, if you don't put the wolves in charge.

Here is what a typical bunch of ferals looks like in these parts. Notice the spotted ones, they are pretty numerous. It seems the white coloring tends to get bred out pretty fast.

From what I have seen and read, if prepared properly there is no danger in eating the wild pigs in Texas.
You surely wouldn't butcher and consume any animal that wasn't healthy and robust.
As far as food banks, the 'hog problem' is not well known outside of rural Texas. Once they invade the cities and start ripping up the bermuda lawns and azalea bushes there will be a hue and cry to 'do something'.
It is estimated that there are around two million wild hogs in Texas right now, it is expected they will double their population to four million within ten years. This is about twice the white tail deer population we have right now.
It will be a HUGH problem before long.
    Very SERIES too.

I found a skull of a young wild pig recently, and the tusks seem to lie along the inside of the jawbone. these were about three inches long or so and were curved so that when they grew out they naturally turned outward.
It was pretty cool seeing how they work.

They are mostly tame hogs gone feral.
They have been running around about a hundred years and are now quite populous.
I live one county east of the county mentioned in this article and we have plenty of feral hogs out here.
In south Texas they also have a Javelina pig, which I believe is some kin of the European boar.
The feral hogs are quite dangerous and do grow tusks, although not as gnarly as the Javelina or European pigs.

The ferals are classified as a varmit and you can hunt them year round. The ones around here knosh on acorns and are quite tasty.

Get one of these and several Longhorn mama cows and you will not have a predation problem with your calves.

Part of the problem, as you stated, is that we have dumbed down and tamed our livestock so intensely, that they cannot defend themselves any longer.

The horns were developed in cattle for a reason, self-defense, in our neverending quest for bigger, fatter and tamer, we have essentially turned our cattle into walking delis.

There is not enough beer in the Great State of Texas to get me to stick my arm in the mouth of 30-40 pound fish.

I had some crazy little Cajun friends that loved to do this, but I have seen the size of the logger head snappers around these parts and they could take your hand off at the wrist.

Give me a rod and reel and some live bait and I'll do it the old fashioned way. Come to think of it, I think I'll just go bait my little minnow trap and get ready for some fresh catfish this weekend.

Hope all is well in oil country. You should see all the beat up cars from our little snowstorm last week, it looks like they plowed up the shoulders on I-20 from Tyler to Shreveport.

    Last year is history.
You lost Clemens and Petitte, you picked up Kevin Brown. big whoo.
Lofton can't throw a ball 100 feet and B Williams is another year older.
Giambi has proven to be the small market player many thought he was.
Introduce a little Jeter, A-Rod ego and voila, third place.

Not that I care, I mindlessly hate the Yanks the same as many do my Pokes.

While the Yanks look good on paper, there are holes all through their lineup.
This is the last hurrah for this group of guys, before Georgie blows it up and starts all over again.
He has had mixed results when he interlopes too much.
Much the same as our own Jerry Jones.

    Au contraire
The New York media will be all over A-Rod if the Yanks falter early.
He and Kevin Brown, who is quite a headcase as ya'll will soon find out, had better grow some thick skin.
How much of a defensive liability is Lofton going to be, the man can barely throw a baseball?

    You guys are comedians.

If the owner is not going to pony up and ride with the big boys, what the eff is having a 20 million a year Shortstop going to do for you?
We are as sick of the losing as anybody, but we have proven beyond a doubt, and I mean any doubt whatsoever, that you cannot bash your way to a Champeenship.
Take A-Rod, take I-Rod, take Juan Gonzalez, take Rafael Palmeiro and give me some godd*mn PITCHING.
Apparently we can't buy any of that so we will have to homegrow these boys, have mercy on our souls, given our past track record.
The worst thing this franchise has done lately is can Doug Melvin, for this the blame clearly rests with Hicks, everything since that point has just been John Hart window dressing.
The sooner that fraud gets back east where he belongs the faster a solid franchise can be built from the ground up...again.

Soriano does have some value, Ramirez would have been replacing one anchor with another.
A couple of used bats and shag balls would have been adequate compensation for A-Rod as long as that salary goes away.

I agree about the morons buying tickets, but this had to happen.
Yuo can't pay one guy 19 million a year if you are not willing to spend 150 million a year on the whole team.
A-Rod has been an anchor around the Rangers necks, once Tom 'Buy-em-out' Hicks, decided he couldn't run with the big dogs.
It will be necessary to undo everything John 'Slick' Hart has done the last three years.
The next step is to rid ourselves of Chan Ho as in "It's out of the Park", if this can be accomplished and Hart takes I-30 East, and Hicks sells the team to somebody with money and a plan, we will be alright.
    Short term pain, notwithstanding.

They might give Drew Myers a chance at that shortstop position.
Personally I think this a good move for the Rangers, especially money-wise.

Says Soriano will probably play center field.
