because of some verses in the minor prophets, i am open to the possibility of starflight before Christ's return. just becuase the next anti-christ (there are many) may arise within my lifetime doesnt necessarily mean that he will the the anti-christ of the book of revelation. prophecy can be fulfilled in such a way that Christ may return within the next heartbeat, or he may return next century. my responsibility is live life as though he may come at any moment, but plan for life as if he may not come for another thousand years.
  • BLM, Attorney General: "There Are Too Many Wild Horses in Wyoming."

I remember the furor that arose when the BLM stepped in and destroyed a part of our community's western heritage. They made it impossible for us to govern ourselves in regards to our land and environment with the customs developed over the years to care for, and cull the excess mustangs. They took over management of land that is deeded in the name of the people of the county, and occupied it with all the grace of schoolyard bullies. The incredible disdain and arrogance that the BLM showed our community was despicable. Educated beyond reason with the mistaken notion that theirs was the superior intellect, that first year we saw many of the stangs die from BLM mismanagement.

The excuse given to the beltway urbanite was that the poor animals were being captured by evil greedy capitalists for exploitation, and that only congress in usurping its constitutionally delegated authority could save these poor hapless animals. That they went to foreign markets for food, and domestic glue factories was only a half-truth. That they would soon become extinct was a lie.

Before their hostile takeover, we (the local public) would determine the viability of the land, and the number of horses that the land could maintain. The local ranchers and interested parties would hold an annual round up for the excess horses, and give the young trainable ones to be broke for kids who had none. Some went to POA clubs, others would be taken to auction for sale for various purposes determined by the new owner. We did this with no cost to the US taxpayer.

Yes it is true that those that went unclaimed or unsold were sent to *gasp* the co-op for possessing--glue, pet food, and *double-gasp* sometimes for human consumption. It may sound cruel but nature is a harsh mistress and the damage done to the land, and the starvation of young or unfit horses in the winter is a much crueler fate. Before federal intervention the local community who had to live in nature, and survive by nature did a much better job than the D.C. idealists whose urbanite disassociation with nature more resembles Walt Disney than reality.

imagine the apostles after the telethon donations come in arguing over what kind of car Jesus should drive.

would peter get him a Jaguar with some sort of racing option. Jesus and him could head to the tent meeting in style.

    james and john might want him to get a stretch limo so they could ride at his left and right;

Simon the Zealot with the Jeep CJ with a 50 cal. mount to protect him from the Evil Empire.

Matthew being a former revenue agent would probably caution against anything that would set the tax return triggers off. perhaps a used Oldsmobile Cierra.

Phillip being a practicle sort might just consider the terrain, and want him in a safe, capable, all terrain vehicle like a hummer.

Judas Iscariot of course would want him in a dinky beer can sheet metal rubber band wound commuter car that is so unsafe that Judas is sure to inherit the ministry very soon.

But we know what Jesus drove, a plymouth. When reading the Bible it is clear that Jesus drove them out of the temple in his Fury.

    :)

in the gospels he rode a young donkey (to the ancients entering a city on a donkey was a symbol of peaceful intent).

in revelation when Jesus returns it will be a white stallion and with an army(a sign of a conqueror whose intent is to vanquish his foes) -- todays equivalent of a tank.

I dont think the liberals are prepared for more humvees on the road let alone apc's and m-1 abrams on the roadways. :)

Davis believes that such a male/female balance of leadership ensures a SpiralScout's positive integration into the real world. "Children are not born with prejudices," he noted. "They have to learn prejudice and intolerance from others."

Male/female balance? Positive integration? Real world? Children not born with prejudices? This is a recipe for disaster. (Cliché intended).

Instead of spreading truth, justice, and beauty, all that will come of this is deceit, injury, and ugliness. I pity his blindness, and am saddened for the children who will be injured.

Societal expectations are such that the man wearing the tie is percieved as more reliable and trustworthy than the guy without the tie.

Then such expectations are wrong and should not be coddled, humored or perpetuated.

:) I agree with you. I believe that for a majority of americans the necktie is already seen as a noose-ance, and there will soon be consensus that it is a symbol of greed and ostentatiousness.

I hope it will fade away only to be found only on lawyers, door-to-door salesman, tele-evangelists, and others whose occupations warrant a caveat of their approach.

Waaah. I wanna wear 12" dreadlocks, kilt, claymore, 13 button bibbed and sleeveless shirt with 8" collar, unmatched socks, fuzzy bunny slippers, and a bone necklace to work. Waaah.

Many of us HATE handover ties with a passion, but wear them when required or asked to do so. This is (usually) a mark of maturity. Societal expectations are such that the man wearing the tie is percieved as more reliable and trustworthy than the guy without the tie.

If you want to be an iconoclast then take resposibility for your actions, even if it means getting fired. Take your lumps, grin and bear it; and stop wasting the taxpayers money.

Go into the real world, become resourceful, influencial, and live your life in such a way that others want to emulate you in speech, manner and dress.

Until then shut up and wear the tie. Our court system needs to be free to handle real crimes like polyester leisure suits.

i agree with the article and what he means to write, although i would disagree with some of his definitions.

The athiestic mockery of altruism is most deceptive. What socialists think is their brand of altruism is really thinly disguised Egotism. It is the egotistical (and hypocritical) imposition that ***I*** must determine what ***YOU*** must do so that the others may be happy.

Those of us who are believers are commanded by our Lord to follow that form of altruism that would have us (voluntarily and in good concsience) treat others in the manner that we would want to be treated (in consideration of God, and nature) if the situations were reversed.

in debate, when the opposition defines the terms, the proponents can scarcely win the argument. in many areas that deal with thinking, reasoning, and perception we seem to have let the socialists redefine the terms.

since 9-11 i have resolved to be insistant on using that Standard of American English in philosophical, sociological, and political accord with our founding fathers. (Mr. Webster left us an incredible legacy of words well defined and pregnant with the principles of Life, Libery, and Justice.)

Hume, Voltaire, Nietzsche, Marx, Engels, Pound, ad naseum, can go to a very warm dark place. Their conceits woven into revised definitions of many languages have helped bring about tyrannical nightmares that have extinguished the life, liberty, and happiness of tens of millions.

Once again, i agree with what the author wrote but the proper label should be statist egotism, not altruism.

Please let me know if i am being too a.r.

    thanx

You're forgetting the "they weren't TRUE Christians" response to that. Such a response is best accompanied by the music of bagpipes.

;) Bagpipes?!!! I once heard a christian musician state that bagpipes were of the devil. What else is made out of goatskin; has seven horns coming up out of its head; and wails like frying demon? :)

It seems that most materialists who have had to deal in a personal manner in such encounters (when convincingly authentic) have had to make a serious adjustment to their worldview.

Christians in America tend to live in a world of the excluded middle--the material world of here and now, and the spiritual world of the hereafter. They form to distinct domains that rarely if at all interact with each other. Demons were pre-scientific explanations of various diseases and psychoses. It can be diconcerting that perhaps the spiritual dynamic of evil readily interacts with the physical (and mental) realm on a more routing basis.

Conversely, others see a demon behind every bush. The unseen world is so powerful and intrusive that they must ward off every evil in with personal formulae and checklists that almost belie the sufficiency of Christ. Perhaps they are not so spiritually important as to be on the Demon-Behind-Every-Bush Society's Most Wanted List. Such proud arrogance is bondage enough, and can keep such a believer from spiritual maturity.

CS Lewis in "The Screwtape Letters" warned that ignoring supernatural evil, and unhealthy fascination with supernatural evil--although different means, produced the same ends.

Believers who have had such encounters shoved in their faces, sometimes literally, have for the most part no prior Biblical instruction. This new found middle ground is worse than waking up in an episode The Twighlight Zone.

Those who have written a book about such encounters, and the exorcisms that followed sometimes assume that the method that they subsequently developed is THE was to do an exorcism.

Fortunately for Malachi Martin had the benefit of learning from an establishe clerical order.

An exellent scholarly work from a biblical perspective is "Biblical Demonogy" by Merrill Unger. Also his two books "What Demons Can Do To Christians" and "What Christians Can Do To Demons" are also informative.

There is also "Angels Elect and Evil" and "Demon Possession and the Christian" by C Fred Dickason good from an evangelical perspective.
