In a train carriage there was Bill Clinton, George Bush, Janet Reno and Bo Derek. After several minutes of the trip, the train passes through a dark tunnel and the unmistakable sound of a slap is heard.

When they leave the tunnel, Clinton has a big red slap mark on his cheek.

    1) Bo Derek thought - "That sleazeball Clinton wanted to touch me and by mistake, he must have put his hand on Janet Reno, who in turn must have slapped his face."

    (2) Janet Reno thought - "That dirty Bill Clinton laid his hands on Bo Derek and she smacked him."

    (3) Bill Clinton thought - "George put his hand on Bo Derek and by mistake she slapped me."

    (4) George Bush thought - "I hope there's another tunnel soon so I can smack Clinton again."

How about doing in 3 months what the Russian's could not do in 10 years. China's worst nightmare is the U.S. united and pissed off. They may have "billions", but we have proven already that we can handle them (ala Frozen Chosin)

You're right. That's because ours is a righteous cause, and the Russians' wasn't. Excuse my ignorance, but what is Frozen Chosin?

Sorry if this has been posted already. I couldn't find it.

Does anybody else find this very scary, if true?

Inaguration of a real president, a real patriot, and a real man, President George W. Bush. And remember how we weren't sure it was really going to happen (what dirty tricks were the democrats going to pull to stop it?), until it actually happened? I remember the gratitude and relief and joy of that inaguration day. AND THAT SPEECH!!

The Chinese "wong way" crisis. The much prayer for that, and the much gratitude when it was resolved and our people returned home.

September 11 and what it has shown us about ourselves. What we have within ourselves, and who ever would have known this??? And how our great president is handling it.

The resulting war on terrorism. It seems so obvious now that this was needed all along.

I am so grateful that we have a strong and good and moral president. That is my biggest cause for gratitude. That is the most significant "event" or occurrence for me.

I can't reach Yahoo from the Cox@Home network but I can reach it from my work proxy. The routes are completely different and one works, the other doesn't. Don't know why though.

Could have something to do with the bankruptcy problem of Cox's high speed carrier and their current re-do of the whole thing?

I can't reach google either. It says it cannot find that site.

Also wouldn't bring up Rush's site just now.

Here are a few I found in my Strong's Dictionary (gives original Hebrew and Greek meanings of the words used in KJV translation). (Old Testament) to WHISPER (a spell), ie to INCHANT or practice magic. MAGIC. DIVINATION, ORACLE. In the New Testament, PHARMAKEIA is the original Greek word, rendered "witchcraft" in KJV. It means MEDICATION ("pharmacy") and by extension MAGIC (lit or fig).

If you simply take all the things Pharoah's magicians did in trying to emulate the works of Moses, I think it's pretty clear that we're talking about the same thing, translations notwithstanding.

Paragraph 1. I guess we'll have to disagree about Moses. I'm sure you have similar explanations for all of the other things he did, including parting the sea.

Paragraph 2. Well, your point is well taken about why I'm on line instead of studying. I've been asking myself the same question for about a half hour now. Yes I eat pork etc. How about yourself?

Paragraph 3. I think I already apologized for not reading the whole article before speaking out about it. I still agree with what I read, which was a critique of the movie. There's no need to yell about it.

Paragraph 4. No, -- I didn't wonder why people thought I had a problem with gullibility. I wondered why people couldn't be civil in their comments about it.

And now I need to get some sleep. Good night.

I could be wrong, but it seemed to me that the person to whose post I was responding when I said the Bible is our sufficient guide to life, was a student of witchcraft, and turning to it as a guide to life, and that is what impelled the statement. I do not know if people reading the Potter books are using them as a guide to life. I do know that what we are reading, we are taking into our thinking. And I know for a fact that we need to be careful about what we take into our thinking, because that determines our experience. I think it's obvious that reading books friendly witchcraft (albeit perhaps not true to "real" witchcraft) is going to make the reader more friendly and open to witchcraft. Even (sometimes especially) if it is just for entertainment.

No,I do not stand against non-Bible self-help books. Of course it depends on the book as to whether or not I'd read it. I'm very particular about my reading material, but I'm not the public censor. Stephen King's novels? I've never been attracted to them. Too much pure horror. Dean Koontz' novels? I used to be an addicted fan of them. Wow, that man can really tell a story, and what an imagination. Truth be told, I love his novels. (The movies they've made from them just haven't measured up.) I stopped reading them though. Just other more important things to do.

I read The Once and Future King years ago. Arthur is transformed by Merlin (a wizard living backwards in time) to different types of animals, in order to gain experience in different situations. There was a lot of magic in this book, but it didn't lead me into witchcraft.
Haven't read it. But it sounds like a combo of fantasy and science fiction. My objection to Harry Potter is that it doesn't just have some elements of witchcraft in it as literary vehicles, as most fairy tales do. It is 100% witchcraft through and through, without any break from it. It just creeped me out, and I trust my intuitions.

Pharoah's magicians turning staffs into serpents was a magic trick, and I believe you when you say it is still done today, though admit to not knowing how to perform the trick, nor caring. I suspect it is a form of mental suggestion.

Moses turning his staff into serpent was not a magical trick. Remember that Moses' staff ate all their staffs. Moses' power came directly and only from God.

Outside of reading the Bible, what do I know about witches? That as people, I'm sure some of them are well meaning individuals. You are right, I have not studied witchcraft and am no expert on it. I'm sure you know a lot more about it than I do. I do know enough about it from here and there (sorry, no bibliography will be provided) to know that it is definitely not something I want to study.

Ridicule me if you will, but I am firmly convinced that the Bible is our sufficient guide to life. I appreciate your offer to educate me on witchcraft -- I really do, because obviously it is something that means a lot to you -- but no thank you.

No, I certainly do not believe that Queen Elizabeth worships the devil. Did the article say that? I guess I should have read it more carefully. (Sorry.) I read the first few paragraphs and agreed with them. My apolgies if I've been defending the position that QE is a devil worshiper. I can see how someone would think that position is a bit off.

I agree. Debating is good. Being rude in debate is not. Think W's debating tactics vs. Algore's. I prefer the former, gentlemanly, though not wimpy debate. How about you?

The fact remains that you are being insulting, and that's cheap and unworthy, no matter what you perceive your reason to be. It is a cheap, low class substitute for reason.

Because my opinion is not the same as yours, does not make either one of us stupid or gullible. I just happen to believe the Bible when it says that witchcraft of any sort, in any form, is wrong. Does that make me a dupe of frauds? I don't think so.
